I must admit i was a bit perturbed by the fact that certain people who had contacted me and asked if there was any connection to me and my tree, suddenly could view it, I had only got to the stage of swapping a few bit of info before we established there was no connection-why have they suddenly been able to view my tree. catherine xx

Just a quick nudge to remind everyone,

Every tree I have access to has been removed!! I have just deleted 16 people who didnt have permission to view my tree.....Whats going on!!

I've just send the Support/Privacy team a couple of emails about this - and then found this thread. It was all fine this morning. Now it is not. I too have found that: 1. People have access where it has not been granted 2. Access I did have to some trees has been removed 3. The Relation column in Contacts is now blank for all contacts over 10 months old. I have now wasted my evening updating tree access - and like some, am contemplating removing my tree entirely until the matter is rectified. How confident can I be that the tree access is in fact as it is shown? Who can see what? And how can I be sure? GENES TEAM: this is a drastic breach of privacy that must be fixed immediately. And a huge inconvenience in functionality that will have a major negative impact on the validity of this site. Jacqui

This would explain the sudden influx of people allowing me access to their tree whenb neither they or I know why they have given it to me!

Thats awful Jax :( I wonder how many of us had our tree copied today. Especially when the person is only connected via an uncles cousins brother who happen to pass them in the street in 1742 (you know what I mean lol) Seriously though it's really not on at all is it :((

I checked my contacts earlier and unticked all those that i havent given permission to. I have just checked again and some of them have permission to view again. One of the people has taken all details from my tree including lines that had no relation to him at all.What irks me the most is that this man was not interested in sharing information when he got in contact with me he just wanted to take mine, before he took my info he only had 9 people on his tree. I am seriously not happy about this and if they dont rectify it im deleting my tree. Jax xx

same has happened to me all the ones i had access to now say request tree and the ones i had not given access to are open which i have now closed also sent gr a message as not very pleased so thanks for this thread. val :-(

I read the warning and discovered that 29 of my contacts suddenly had access to my tree. I'm fuming. I hadn't granted permission to any of them. I've written to GR but haven't had a response Gwynne

I reported this to GR a few weeks ago - when I had a 'request to view your tree' message - nothing else, just that. I queried the person, who hadn't sent any message - but I could see her tree, She assured me she hadn't opened it - which was obvious as she had previously deleted all but her name on it!!! I also pointed out to GR how this could cause bad feeling. Wish they were as quick to resolve serious problems like this as they are to double the membership when it suits them!!! Strikes me the more they charge the worse the service. maggie
