The Gaynor Bear Relay has raised £4,800. Plus all proceeds from 'Kilted keith' are being added to the total, so hopefully Kieth will bring the total amount to over FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK. Gaynor and Beau Bear are sitting on the sofa in the conservatory, still in hibernation due to the recent cold snap. I had hoped to get the pair of them married off at Gretna Green, have a 'meet up' in Tynemouth where the relay started and then another meet up somewhere more central to all members, who would like to see GB and all her belongings. I realise a lot of members have left GR and some can no longer be contacted. I would still like to arrange something. I see there are a lot of 'meet ups' arranged over the next couple of months, and obviously I do not want to clash with those. I intended to find somewhere in the Midlands which would be easy for all to get to via train or car. I wanted to provide a free buffet for all attending. This could be prepared by me ( Yes I am used to catering for 100's of people) and as two of my daughters live in the Midlands, I could prepare the buffet there. This is were I need help and advise. I would be very grateful for any suggestions. First and foremost I need to know how many are still interested? 2. I need to find somewhere that will hold around 100 people, allow me to provide my own food, and also serve alcohol, tea and coffee, and allow children. In other words a Pub or Club that has a private function room. Preferably near to a main Railway Station. 3. Do I arrange it for a weekday or a weekend. I really want to cater for all but know this is not possible. 4. What month would be best? The begining of June would be ideal for me. Last and not least, and perhaps the most important of all. What am I to do with GAYNOR BEAR AND ALL HER BELONGINGS???????????? I still have to get in touch with Andy Ooop North to collect her Pink Pedal Car and Harry Potter Book, and a member in the midlands has some belongings. I am also waiting for Raven to post the autograph book. Sorry to be so long winded. But I suppose you are all used to my posts by now. Lol. May I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you, from the bottom of my heart, that had anything to do with the GB Relay. Love Jenny xxxx |

Hi Jenny, can't help with the meet I'm afraid (and wouldn't be able to say if I could come until very near the date) but I was thinking about what to do with Gaynor and her 'stuff'. The two ideas I had would be to either give everything to Gaynor's family (certainly the autograph books and personal messages - although I expect you were going to do that anyway) or organise an auction/raffle for everything - either through the Pink Fund or direct with CR or even just on the net here? Hi Jenny I would be interested in coming to a meet, although I wouldn't be able to say for definite until we know when and where. How about giving GB and her belongings to Gaynor's family, or asking for their suggestions as to what to do with them Jeanette x |

What about donating GB and her belongings to a childrens ward, I don't know how it works but if there is a ward for children cancer patients it would be great!(or what about that beautiful house- can't remember the name- where children go that are terminal?) LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXXX Ps. great minds Lynda :-) |

I like the idea of donating her to a children's hospice. We have 2 lovely ones near me - Haven House and Richard House. Maybe Gaynor's family should choose one. Maz. XX |

Hi Jenny, A Midlands meet sounds great - Saturdays are always out for me because I work, though. How about scanning GB's book and putting it all on a CD and selling it to interested parties - profits could go to the Pink fund. I agree she should go to a children's hospice - nowhere better. Gwynne |

It would be so nice if someone could put 'gaynor bears adventures' in a book .....perhaps Daniel ??? just a thought :)) Definately would purchase if one was ever puiblished, my two grandchildren would love it I'm sure and a worthy cause. I would love to come to the meet, but I will have to let you know for sure nearer the time. Yes, I thought the same as Maz, perhaps raffle or auction the bears off. Well done to everyone that took part. Heather x |

Maz, Linda, Jeanette and Lou. Thanks for your replies, much appreciated. xxxx. I think it was originaly intended that GB and all her belonging would go to Gaynors Grandchild. At the begining I thought she only had one, but then realised there were two Grandchildren. My first reaction was, how do they share? I have had no contact with Rob, or Gaynors children for a long time. But I do agree that they should be consulted. I think I would much prefer Gaynor Bear to be donated to a Childrens Hospice, in Buckinghamshire. The alternative is to hold a raffle amongst members that took part in the relay. This would then raise more money for Cancer Research UK. Please keep you ideas and views coming. Jenny. x |

Jenny, I would love to go to the midlands meet, according to when and where. Hubby and me have been talking about what to do with our own little celeberaty (sp), and we think if all of us who had Gaynor for the tour could write where she went to in story form, and then see if we could get some one to publish it, a friend of mine has had a book written and published about the tales of her dogs, written from the dogs view, so I was wondering if we could maybe do some thing like that of ''Gaynors Travels'', and then all proceeds could also go to the charity, if you want to try some thing like that I could ask her for the details of the publisher. If I can help in any way at all please contact me and I will do my best. Bev |

Jenny, depending on when it was I would be interested in a meet. (Not the week 15th -24th June though, I am on holiday and there could be a Lake District meet in that week sometime). I am sure that Gaynors family would agree that it would be a lovely idea for gaynor bear to go to a childrens' hospice, together with a story about where and how far she has travelled. Perhaps including some of her belongings. I think the autograph book should go to Gaynor's family - probably to Rob. I thhink diana is still in touch with him. Can't help with the venue. Maybe somebody who lives in the Midlands can. Ann Glos |

A Midlands meet sounds great and as I live in the area I am available to help you if you need it. The idea of a Children's Hospice having Gaynor Bear sounds great as does the idea of them having something about her travels. Maybe it could be put into a book of some sort? I know when I copied all the threads about the Pinny Gang it looked good when printed up on good paper, bound and with a nice cover. (There is photo of Gaynor with the books on GC photos page - not the next gen site). Again, well done Jenny for such an interesting way of raisng funds. Jacky :-) |

Hi Jenny I would love to be able to come to a Midlands Meet, and I could perhaps help with catering if you needed extra help! Think the idea of Gaynor Bear going to live in a Childrens' Hospice is a marvellous idea, she'd certainly be well loved and given lots of cuddles. A Pink book about her travels, would,i'm sure, bring in lots more money for the Fund. All members' ideas are good. Mau xxx |

Hi Jenny i have to agree with everyone else about Gaynor Bear going to a Childrens Hospice of Gaynor,s family choice. Would be interested in going to Midlands meet depending on when. Also think a weekend might be better as i know my children would be interested in going as they helped look after Gaynor when i had her for the few days, so as far as i,m concerned they were part of the relay. It helped them learn to even though some had gone it need not be a sad thing you could celebrate that persons life in a happy way. Thats just my opinion and will go with the majority. It was a great experience and through it met two wonderful people. Star(Cherry) |

I would love to join a meet if it was somewhere I could get to fairly easily and the date was right for me (not July as busy month). I too think a hospice of Gaynor's family's choice or similar, and I would be happy to write a little piece about GB's time with me. We need someone with a flair for writing, such as Bridget,to put together GB's story and add all the photographs - I have a few of her at the bowling alley which have never been shown as I don't have a scanner and they weren't digitial photos. Would be a great way of making even more money for Cancer Research or the hospice she moves to. Well done everyone for the money raised, and thanks to Jenny and others for sorting it all out. Liz |
