just a thought Jenny..... is there a breast cancer care or cancer research in your area or in Gaynor's home area.....maybe GB could be donated to Cancer Research itself, so that they could possibly even continue to use her for relays around the country with other people either with cancer or fundraising for cancer research....they may be able to think of other ideas for her too...and not only would it continue raising money for Cancer research but would also keep Gaynor's memory alive as the original story would go along with GB Jill xx

Many thanks for all you replies and pm's with ideas etc. Sorry I have not been around much since posting this thread. After gutting 17year olds bedroom and redecorating, I damaged my knee, finally went to the Dr's after 12 days and he has diagnosed Bursitis. It is still quite painful and on top of that I now have full blown head cold and cough that has knocked me for six. Plus Hubby has been home all week. I am all for, letting GB and all her belongings going to a Hospice in Buckinghamshire. I am in touch with a longstanding member who is going to write a book all about GB's travels. She is very experienced in this field. All proceeds of course going to Cancer Research UK. I still intend to have a Calender for 2008 featuring all the best photographs. Some of you have mentioned GB going further afield to visit members living abroad. I have no problem with this, but would prefer to get my 'meet up' in this country over first. Then we can start the ball rolling. I would need a lot of support from members going to Australia, etc. Re a 'meet up' in the Midlands. A member has been in touch mentioning a Cricket Club in Solihull. It has a private room, bar and kitchen that I could use to provide a buffet for you all. Dont think I can afford a disco though. Lol. Children are welcome. It is 15 minutes away from the main railway station. I am not sure if this is from Birmingham New Street or Solihull. I do need further details and will get onto it over the next few days. Re a Tynemouth 'meet up' there are now a lot more members living in the North East. So I am going to organise a get together in the very near future. I have somewhere in mind, right on the sea front. It will be a lovely day out at the seaside for children, (weather permitting) We have a wonderful beach but I must add Tynemouth is not a commercialised place. You would have to bring your own buckets and spades lol. Will get back to you all asap. Jenny. x

I too would love to attend early June suits me too! (can't make June 16th-23rd) It will be great to meet up with all the other rally participants. I think the hospice and raffle ideas are good and will generate more funds too. Jenny make the day and date to suit yourself you deserve to. Love Linda x

Hi Jenny, I would love to go to the meet, but June would be awkward. Also think it a brilliant idea to do a book about her travels, but not sure how easy it would be to get in contact with all those that were involved. Well done for achieving this, it was great fun and a lovely tribute to Gaynor. Jill xx

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 28 Mar 2007 08:08

Is there any possibility that Gaynor Bear will make an overseas trip, to visit other GR members? I can show her around the Vancouver area, and I'm sure that there are more Canadian members than just me who will show her the sights. There are our friends 'down under' to consider too. Just athought. Debx

Hi Jenny Well done for keeping this going and a great final total. Would be interested in a Midlands 'do' and will try to fit in with whatever you decide. Regarding the Harry Potter book in particular, I would like it to go to Gaynor's family please as that is what I had in mind when I queued up for it. Hope that's ok? Daisy

Hi Mommy, Would def' want to be there but cannot say until i know date , I'm in agreement with most as to what to do with the bears. A CD or storybook or both would be a great idea i know my grandchildren would love it as a bedtime story..and all proceeds to go to the fund I'm sure with the help of Gaynors family and friends of the relay it can come to frutitian(spelling)... Take care and look after yourself , will keep an eye open for threads . Regards Marion.x.

I would love to join a meet if it was somewhere I could get to fairly easily and the date was right for me (not July as busy month). I too think a hospice of Gaynor's family's choice or similar, and I would be happy to write a little piece about GB's time with me. We need someone with a flair for writing, such as Bridget,to put together GB's story and add all the photographs - I have a few of her at the bowling alley which have never been shown as I don't have a scanner and they weren't digitial photos. Would be a great way of making even more money for Cancer Research or the hospice she moves to. Well done everyone for the money raised, and thanks to Jenny and others for sorting it all out. Liz

Hi Jenny i have to agree with everyone else about Gaynor Bear going to a Childrens Hospice of Gaynor,s family choice. Would be interested in going to Midlands meet depending on when. Also think a weekend might be better as i know my children would be interested in going as they helped look after Gaynor when i had her for the few days, so as far as i,m concerned they were part of the relay. It helped them learn to even though some had gone it need not be a sad thing you could celebrate that persons life in a happy way. Thats just my opinion and will go with the majority. It was a great experience and through it met two wonderful people. Star(Cherry)

Hi Jenny I would love to be able to come to a Midlands Meet, and I could perhaps help with catering if you needed extra help! Think the idea of Gaynor Bear going to live in a Childrens' Hospice is a marvellous idea, she'd certainly be well loved and given lots of cuddles. A Pink book about her travels, would,i'm sure, bring in lots more money for the Fund. All members' ideas are good. Mau xxx

A Midlands meet sounds great and as I live in the area I am available to help you if you need it. The idea of a Children's Hospice having Gaynor Bear sounds great as does the idea of them having something about her travels. Maybe it could be put into a book of some sort? I know when I copied all the threads about the Pinny Gang it looked good when printed up on good paper, bound and with a nice cover. (There is photo of Gaynor with the books on GC photos page - not the next gen site). Again, well done Jenny for such an interesting way of raisng funds. Jacky :-)

Yes...I like that.. GB and her friend should go (with the blessing of Gaynor's family) to a childrens hospice.. And someone should write her story 'Gaynor bear's journey', little pink books we can all buy..Money donated to pink fund..I would be honoured to have one... LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Jenny, depending on when it was I would be interested in a meet. (Not the week 15th -24th June though, I am on holiday and there could be a Lake District meet in that week sometime). I am sure that Gaynors family would agree that it would be a lovely idea for gaynor bear to go to a childrens' hospice, together with a story about where and how far she has travelled. Perhaps including some of her belongings. I think the autograph book should go to Gaynor's family - probably to Rob. I thhink diana is still in touch with him. Can't help with the venue. Maybe somebody who lives in the Midlands can. Ann Glos
