So how come years ago one of my ancestors was sent to America by the parish council because he couldnt afford to keep his family. He was given several hand outs like a smock and £5 for the doctor to attend his wife but after that he was sent away. My how things have changed. Perhaps I should get compensation for him under the human rights act. LOL |

Years ago , my grandad ( who is dead and gone now ) was on the 'dole' (it wasn't called that then ) . He was made to go to go chop firewood for the local hospital . If guys like this were made to earn their social security with jobs to help the community and environment , they may change their mind in producing more children than they or we can afford. Oh and i agree with Brian, benefits should only appertain to the first 2 children when dealing with the long term unemployed. |

No !!! there is no complaints from him about how much he/they are getting from the goverment ,just that he feels it in-justice the council wont house him, to accomodate him , his wife ,girlfriend and his many children !!!,, ,,,,,,One would have though that all the added benifits they could well afford a mortgage between them,,,,,,,it can be done as working people prove it,on much less income !! 2 Bricks comes to mind,,,,,,,,, kay, |

I would have loved lots of children, but we could not afford them and I stopped at three. Never once did it occur to me that the State has a DUTY to support my self indulgence. 200 years ago, the poor law authorities hunted down and imprisoned men who failed to support their wives and families, the thinking being that, although you could not force a man to support his family, you could b****y well stop him having anymore. Harsh but effective. OC |

The truth is this is one of many families, people are sucking the country dry with false claims and all too easy benefits(for some) unfortunately the people who really need it dont get it. It makes me sick, there are people claiming for incapacity benefits that dont need, they get cars e.t.c from the governments, its crazy!! They really need to look at this and really come down hard on scroungers. |

The fault lies with the idiots who designed the benefits system. In an overpopulated Country with a supposedly educated population then benefits and housing, if applicable, should be made for the first two children. After that you're responsible. An open-ended cash pot is not sustainable. |

Winter Drawers Ever Near | Report | 16 Nov 2006 09:57 |
Just had another thought (amaze myself sometimes). Has fifteen children now. Another two on the way (hope no multiple births run in their family). So that's seventeen..... Given the age of these women, they will unless someone ties their tubes in a knot, or castrates him, have even more children. After all you want your business to grow and grow! Oh, did I mention what business he had 15yrs ago. It was a BAKERY business. Talk about having a bun in the oven!!!!!! He obviously doesn't know what a Baker's Dozen is (probably can't count). Therefore, I think that Derby City Council should do the honourable thing and vacate their council offices and turn it into a mansion for this deserving ever growing Clan of scroungers. Aileen xxx |

Let me get this straight. He's living at home with his wife and their 5 children, his girlfriend and their 3 children plus one other child from a previous relationship. His wife and girlfriend are both pregnant and his girlfriend has her own house. The other children live elsewhere. If his girlfriend moved back to her own place that would leave him, his wife their 5 children, 6 when baby is born, plus another one. In a 3 bed house definitely cramped but manageable, in a 4 bed house that's basically 2 to a room except one which would have 3. Not exactly impossible to manage. As for the other kids sleeping over has he not heard of sleeping bags. I doubt they stay that often. As for the other kids has he not heard of sleeping bags for the times they sleepover. |

Oh, forgot to mention. A Derby City Council spokesman confirmed he had applied for a bigger house. He said their biggest properties have five bedrooms but they are all taken. 'We are not going to turf anybody out of their home to make way for Mr Philpott, so he potentially faces a very long wait'. Good, and I hope they turf the girlfriend out of her 'vacant' council house to make way for someone more deserving. Rant over. Aileen xx |

Morning, If what I have read is true, the girlfriend has her OWN council house but doesn't live in it. She prefers to live in his overcrowded house. So who is paying the rent/council tax on that property! The Council should give her an ultimatum, live in it or lose it. Personally he is a scam merchant. Interesting that he had his own business up until 15yrs ago, at which time he had three children. They are now 19, 18, & 15yrs old. Then we have a seven year gap. Then he must have got the seven year itch big time. Call my cynical but I think he found another business.... getting teenager girls pregnant and started a baby factory to rake in the coinage without getting off his backside. Twelve children so far in eight years! His so called past relationships aren't so 'past' as he has an 8, 7 and 1 yr old mixed in with the other 9 by this pair he is shacked up with So he's been certainly putting it about. They are parasites the lot of them. They raked in collectively £26,499.20 last year in various benefits. Oh he paid his council tax. Why, he must have slipped up there. I thought that was another of the perks he could claim for. Makes me sick to the back teeth. Aileen xx |
