Oh Paul cramps are so painful. I get them also, I seem to always get them in my feet when I go to the supermarket too. Think it has something to do with the kind of floor I am walking on. Hubby sometimes has to massage the foot for me so I can walk again. Looks a bit funny sometimes when he's down on his knees massaging the foot in the supermarket lol. No he hasn't got a foot fetish lol Regards Jackie

Try calcium Sandoz They are large tablets you get from your chemist that you dissolve in water. One a day for a few days and see if you get relief. regards tania currie

They are vicious! I've suffered from them for years and the only thing that stops them is quinine sulphate. I googled it and it came up with 'for night cramps in the elderly' - so I suppose that now makes it official! Bananas are very good (according to my GP) because of the potassium, and a warm bath at night time can help as it opens up the veins (or something....) Do use a ventolin/salbutamol inhaler? This apparently opens up the airways, but a side effect is it constricts the veins..... They still hurt though.........

Last time I had night cramps, I was pregnant. You're not pregnant are you Paul? ;-) Seriously though it can be very painful. Oh, and be careful if you take the quinine tablets, they gave my dad terrible nose bleeds.

For all of you who suffer cramps I really hope you find some relief soon. I am pretty lucky that I have only ever suffered on the odd occasions and that was bad enough for me. Anyway I have to retire for the night so will see you all about the boards hopefullly :) Best Wishes Colin :):)

Kay???? Report 15 Nov 2006 22:46

Hi Colin, Think there must be a fine line as nursing days salt was reduced,so probally down to how your body converts or retains it.but painful not just the attact but afterwards. Kay.

Hi Kay :) I know when Matt used to get his he would feel cold and shiver also even when it was quite warm or hot to us. We had no idea really that he had the deficiency until some test were carried out. Im not sure if there are different varieties of this or not but we were told to give him things like salted crisp and just that extra bit of salt then. Cramp is a nasty thing to have to. Colin :):)
