Sorry to go off at a tangent. ~Lairy Fairy~ did you used to be known as Rosie Posie? If so, I see a rhyming theme here?

hi Clair perhaps they was deaf im sure they would not have done it on purpose i work in a shop and when we have done silence for whatever reason theres always someone who doesnt listen to tanoys , mostly because they do not hear and usually old peeps whilst shopping are oblivious as to whats going on around them rosex

I was out shopping yesterday with my youngest who is six. She knows why we wear poppies and I explained to her about the 2 minute silence. Just before 11 I told her it was about to start and she stood still, with her head bowed until I told her she was a good girl and we could talk again. She also did the same today. If a 6 year old child can do this, why can't adults who should know better. Jackie

When they was a minutes silence on 7th July, I was standing on the shop floor where I work and some ignorant man came up and asked me where he could find brown envelopes!!!! One minute for goodness sake is that too long to wait? Sue

I would feel EMBARRESSED by carrying on with my shopping in that situation when Its obvious when a whole supermarket stands suddenly stock still after the announcement for the 2 mins silence, even to the thickest or most ignorant of people you should be able to stand quietly for two minutes out of your life. obviously there are some who cannot be held to ransom for ignoring such a big gathering of mass stillness, such as children or those who are mentally disabled. but we all know that isnt deliberate its hard to keep a young child quiet...I know this from experience. I agree with Lil to some extent but then they should also appreciate that others may feel differently and wish to show their respect in silence. Its a hard one, should these people avoid these situations where they have to pass people standing in silence??

I think the only excuse, if you can call it that it that they are oblivious and haven't realised what is going on around them.

Jayne

Jayne Report 12 Nov 2006 11:30

I certainly wouldnt be defending them for their ignorance. rudeness is inexcusable in any situation. politeness costs nothing especially for two minutes of their time. I hope they got a flat tyre on the way home. Jayne x

Very disrespectful but there choice, Lilx

Jayne

Jayne Report 12 Nov 2006 11:12

I think that when it is so obvious that a whole shop is standing silent and unmoving, its nothing but ignorance and disrespect when people talk and carry on doing their shop. Even if its against someones beliefs they still will, in a public place stand quiet in respect for those people who do.There is no excuses at all. Jayne x
