I noticed your thread disappeared when I was typing a reply to it! In fact I did wonder whether your joke would be considered offensive as it mentioned the M---- word. However, I'd heard that joke before - surprisingly from the lips of a good Muslim friend of mine! She has never worn the Niqab and peronally wears a simple head veil. I was astonished to hear HER tell that joke and she explained that just because she is a Muslim, it didn't mean she had no sense of humour. Her argument was that the media's second-guessing of what may offend her and imposing a censorship was actually making life more dangerous for her and her family than the joke itself. She admitted she was fed-up with being seen as a threat to free-speech simply because of her religion. Her views certainly made me think!

Didn't see the joke, but I have to say we are losing the ability to laugh at ourselves. People are getting seriously offended at 'blonde' jokes, 'irish' jokes and jokes about all the funny things that men and women do. The only time I have complained was directly to the person that posted a thread which contained a word in the title that touched a raw nerve and that of a few others. The poster apologized which was unnecessary and changed the title. I then joined in the thread which was hilarious. Easy fixed. Susan
