For those of you that are using AVG free Anti Virus, there's an important update. All support for AVG 7.1 will be stopping on 15th Jan 2007, so you'll no longer get updates. If you want to continue using AVG Free, you need to go to the site http://free.grisoft(.)com/doc/1 and download the new updated version AVG free 7.5 Uninstall your old version completely, reboot your computer, then install the new version. There will be some instant updates to download then hey presto in less than 5 minutes you're fully protected once again :~D XXX Sioux

Hi Patricia, McAfee isn't picking up your viruses because it's a piece of crap is the simple answer :~D *big grin tongue in cheek* - before anyone takes offence!! Reboot your PC means simply restart it. Go to Start / Turn Off Computer / Restart XXX Sioux

Peter, AVG should automatically update each time you connect to the internet. That way it keep you protected at all times. It's always running in the background. XXX Sioux

The warning rather gives the impression that you have to buy the new update, i think it's a bit missleading. Brian

Someone on here mentions using BOTH Free AVG and McAfee on same PC. They are competing with each other and as I understand it and because of this, neither will do their job properly. I'm using McAfee Security Suite which incls a Firewall - thus I have turned the Windows Firewall off. I do download all Windows Security patches tho. AVG have in the past stopped supporting a particular version of their free AV but have always replaced it with a free new version. It would be wise not to uininstal the current version of free AVG UNTIL the new version has been downloaded either to file or disc - or you are left without protection whilst downloading the new version. Once dowloaded to file or disc uninstal the old version then instal the new version. Scan your files and hard disc and then download any updates to the new version. Don't forget you also need a FIREWALL - Windows XP has it's own so make sure it's turned on. If you ain't got a Windows Firewall ZONELABS does a free one Hope this helps. Ron
