Compost bins...who knows about them?

Um - Jen, are you sure the base is for the compost bin, and not for the water butts? Only I have never seen a compost bin with a base. OC |

Yes that's right OC, you can get separate bases for your compost bins. We was thinking of getting the one without a base and putting it straight on the earth but, as others have mentioned, there could be a problem with attracting vermin, especially here in London. And also the fact that they are more un-sturdy especially in high winds. So we are settling for the type with a base. Jen |

Jen - if you get one with a base it would be advisable to add worms they can be ordered on line and delivered the next day - your postie will love you !!!l -lol.Remember that worms breed according to how mush 'food' they have in the compost bin - the more stuff you put in the more they will breed. They can be ordered from Wriggly Wrigglers and Tiger Worms are the best for composting household waste |

Kris, good tip but I'm not averse to digging up a few wrigglers from the garden myself, or are you saying that your common or garden wriggler just ain't good enough lol! Jen |
