now i know why im sat here with tears running down my face, but now youve made me smile TW reading all thaat made me realise life is life was so simple then wasnt it, we have all lived with fun now things are all so scrutinized, we pay tax on every step we take out the door or even in it , kids cant have a laugh like we used to without being told off or even reported to police, they musnt eat this they must eat that, i remember eating a block of jelly out of the wrapper at nanas house, im sure you musnt do that now, cos its not right, its not in the rules |

That's a good question Lynne Did we allow it to be taken away, or was it sneaked away? I also remember tuck shops in school, bumpy old school buses whining up the hills, navy blue school knickers that lasted your entire school life. Cross country Hockey ice slides in the playground conkers day-long bike rides....alone! neighbours who looked out for you, and you them. |

Hi All Just re read all of this thread - such happy days we had as children. I remember the tin bath in front of the fire on winter nights . nightdress on the hearth warming. Listening to the Archers every night at 6.45 pm - Billy Cotton in Wakey Wakey - Sing Something Simple - Sunday tea used to be bread and butter, tin of fruit and slice of home made cake - 3d worth of sweets that came out of a jar. Wish I could turn back the clock!! Love Mary in Spain xx |

Oh what memories they brought a smile on a very wet miserable day. I remember going to the park with a gand of kids, bottle of water with sherbet powder to make 'lemonade' and a packet of jam butties wrapped in paper, and guess what we never got into any trouble just played happily, chasing, catching leaves, rolling down hills. Going on the ferry across the Mersey for 2d and then walking along the shore looking for crabs. I wont let my granddaughter go to the front gate on her own. Isn't that sad? Beryl x |

Crackerjack with cabbages! Did anyone do the 'Cycling Proficiency Test'?--I remember a flag on my handlebar-for what?- 'chapped legs 'from playing out in the cold-no tights or jeans for girls then-but did we care? |
