Has justed knocked on my door, lit a firework and ran off!!!! Fortunately there is a panel of glass in my door, so I could see the firework going off and didn't open the door..... but how dangerous could that have been!!!!!!! Little so and so (and yes I wanna use stronger language than that)

Diana i just don,t know why they don,t do something re Fireworks they are so dangerous. I personaly think they should only be seen at properly organised do,s . I,m not a kill joy but too many innocent folk get frightened or injured. also the poor animals suffer. June x.

Hi Diana, I thought there was a new law to stop fireworks and a supposed fine for setting them off. Fat lot of good that is ... if the police wouldn't attend for a hold up with a gun then they certainly wont attend for fireworks. They should be banned except for organized displays and only on Bonfire night. Glad you were not hurt. Beryl x

SueinKent Report 29 Oct 2006 20:07

I think the new law is if they are let off after 11pm but god knows how the police are supposed to catch them, they are not going to let them of in front of them are they. Another useless law. Sue

Reading that reminded me of an incident many years ago in Hemel where a lady holding her new baby opened the door, and a kid threw in the firework which damaged the baby's face......how wicked - they just don't realise, do they.....

Sharon Report 29 Oct 2006 20:27

would just like to say went to wales to see the in-laws 2 years ago it was bonfire night while we were there so we took the kids to see the display the local fireservice had on. they lit one of those big round display ones but they didn`t bury it, what happened !!!!!!!!!!!!!! it tipped over and shot at all the kids sitting on the one side they had for the kids, some kids had their clothes melted to their skins and my son was hit on the back, luckily he had a lot of layers of clothing on and was spared a serious burn. this has put me off organised displays because anything can happen at least when we do them in the garden we make sure everything is done properly cos at the end of the day it`s our family we are protecting sharon

Sharon - I must admit I am not a fan of fireworks, organised or not so I understand what you mean about safety!! Hope this year is a safe one for everyone!! xx

Sharon Report 29 Oct 2006 21:07

i love fireworks(hotdogs and burgers) the bigger the bang the better. my youngest will be 12 november 3 so we have always had a big thing for them, birthday and bonfire night usually costs about 200 quid but we do it properly for our own safety. it`s different when it`s your own you are looking for and not strangers who you know nothing about

Glad you're OK Diana...the things should be banned altogether. It's not the same now as a few years back...today's fireworks are bigger, louder and much more dangerous. And sorry, Sharon, but fireworks if not banned altogether, should, in my opinion, be restricted only to November 5th (and maybe New Years Eve). No other time! Neighbours who have young babies or pets, should be shown some respect. The letting off of these huge 'bombs' with such loud bangs, can be very distressing. At least if it were allowed on only one night (I repeat, NOVEMBER 5TH), it would be bearable. Dee x

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 29 Oct 2006 21:50

I think it would be hard to restrict to a certain night as there are other religions that use them for celebrations too.... but I agree they shouldn't be sold so easily!! They are deadly weapons!!
