Ann, I'm with you there. Still having no luck finding anywhere to send it, and I really do intend this person getting the poem. x |

Glenys - I suggested that the vicar see this poem and it was definitely not tongue in cheek - I lost close relatives in WW2 including my grandad. I am so cross about this vicar as is my husband being an ex-serviceman. Ann |

Hi Aileen, where did you get this report please? The reason I ask is that I've seen Michele's thread re 'Why wear a Poppy?' and someone suggested (perhaps tongue in cheek) that this vicar see this poem, and I agree. I tried Googling to try and get some location/see the article in question, but can't find it - perhaps I'm not looking closely enough! lol I feel very strongly on this as, like most people, I lost relatives in both wars, and visited the grave of one of them in Belgium this year. This vicar's actions insult their memories, and I wish him to receive a copy of that poem. x |

Just informed my husband of this - as an ex-serviceman he is furious on behalf of those he served with of different creeds to him and says the Bishop should chuck Vicar out as he is not fit to serve the word of God. Ann |

Does the silly man not realise that all colours and creeds have fought and died since 1914? Does he not realise that when all is said and done this is a christian country and someone, somewhere should stand up for our beliefs - particularly an anglican vicar. If it was our vicar I should imagine a lynching party would have gone out by now. Ann |

I don`t understand how he can do this without the consent of the Parish Church Council,(every parish has one),unless they want the traditional rememberence service and he wants a more multicultural service and they have rejected this idea. If he has cancelled because of this he risks losing his congregation. For example when our new vicar came to our church I informed him that on Remembrance Sunday, we start with 2minutes silence, then the wreath is laid on the steps of the altar, then we sing our National Anthem. As church warden I can assure you if he had vetoed this idea,it would have been put before the parish council for discussion and he could be overuled. I am not Cof E but Church of Wales but we still come under Canterbury. Gwyn |

Perhaps someone ought to remind this clergyman, that men and women of all faiths fought in the World Wars.......if he doesn't know this, he is an ignorant man...... |

If I lived in his parish I'd picket his church. Bet he wouldn't even help any of his parishioners with relatives involved in current ops as would be against his beliefs. He obviously ain't a true christian. Wot a wimp |

Christmas has already come under scrutiny by the PC brigade if I remember.. Christmas lights are now to be called 'Winter Lights' Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous? Does this 'Vicar' not realise how much he will have hurt all the relatives of those who would have been remembered in his parish, let alone the rest of the country. He should hang his head in shame. |

What did Grandad do during the war? As Remembrance Sunday comes round again, we at Tiscali would like to celebrate and commemorate the struggles of all those involved in the World Wars. We'd like to create an archive of wartime accounts and images for you to share with family and friends. Can you help us? We would love to hear the stories that your grandparents or even great-grandparents have passed down to you. The heroics of being a pilot in the air-force or remembering those long evenings, huddled underground during the Blitz. We're especially keen to hear from children who've sat down and discussed (perhaps for the first time) the 1939-45 conflict with their grandparents or great-grandparents. If you would like to share your grandparents' wartime stories, please email us, remembering to include your name and your grandparents' name. If you have any pictures you would like to see published, please include these in the email as well, with as much detail relating to the images as possible. If you would like to go one step further and film an interview with your grandparent/s, please send us the completed footage in either DV, MiniDV, DVD or SVCD. If you would like the tape or disc returned, please include a SAE and a daytime telephone number. Please send your tapes and discs to: Tiscali c/o Steve Best 20 Broadwick Street London W1F 8HT |

Words fail me, if I worshipped at his church I would be looking for somewhere else to go. surely if we are remembering the dead in all wars etc we are remembering all faiths. There are many innocent muslims for example who have lost their lives in Iraq, would we not be remembering them too, and would that not be multi culteral. Ann Glos |
