Yes, love those old films. I record them while at work then watch them while I do the ironing. Call them my 'Ironing Films'!! Try these... 'Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell ' (Telly Savalas, Gina Lollabridgida. Highly under-rated comedy) 'Local Hero' ( great music - feelgood factor!) 'Some Like It Hot' (Tony Curtis & Jack Lemmon & Marylin Monroe. Possibly one of the best comedies ever!) And when you run out of films to watch, try getting the family together and make a list of your 100 best-ever films. The discussions will keep you going for months! You'll remember films you saw years ago.......brings back memories. |

I have spells at going to the cinema and just realised that I haven't been for ages! Among my 'old' favourites are: A Kid for Two Farthings - saw that as a young child High Society 7 Brides for 7 Brothers South Pacific West Side Story Most of the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin films - just love Jerry! Then to the newer ones: Oliver ET Tootsie Rain Man Forest Gump Ghost One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Mr Schmidt The Full Monty Billy Elliot Brassed Off The Pianist The English Patient - beautiful photography Shirley Valentine - but think you have to be a wife & mother to appreciate this one 100% .... One I haven't even brought myself to looking at in DVD is The Bridges of Madison because my friend and her sister cried for 3 days after watching that and she's not a softie like me, so waiting to choose the right time to watch this one !! There are probably more, but can't remember them all. Margaret |

Hi, Used to go to the Odeon for the Saturday kids cinema. Brilliant. Funny though, there are a few films which stick out in my mind. I remember quite clearly some from my childhood. Remember going to see The Ten Commandments with my dad. Went on a ferry over the Clyde to see it. Must have been about 8/9 yrs old. Then there was The Alamo. Remember it came on after the Saturday morning matinee and we stayed on to watch it. Suddenly had a torch in our faces. Mum was on the warpath. Got kept in for the remainder of the weekend. Last Days of Pompei. Stole handfuls of pebbles from people's drives and went to the park to reinact the film. Pebbles made it more authentic being lobbed skywards and landing all around us. Then my aunt took me to see The Can Can. Was quite a long film and remember there was an interval half way through. Aunt decided to go to the loo. Talk about Niagera Falls! She was on there for about 10 minutes and we missed the start of the second half. All happy memories. Aileen xxx |

Hi Angela in North Devon I am sure your Ella is as beautiful as our Ella (who will be one in a couple of weeks). Aren't we lucky? Unfortunately my mum didn't live to meet her gorgeous grandchildren and I am so glad that I have that pleasure. |
