does anyone have any info on traveling salesman in the 1880's??? just found my great great granddad james carlyle forrester was a travelling salesman on the 1881 census. im interested in pictures or stories of life as a traveller. any ideas?? thanks |

Slightly off the subject but in context, Richard Cobden, MP for Stockport in the mid 1800 started as a travelling salesman selling textiles. If you google the name there is plenty of information on him, and it might give you a bit of an insight. |
