Don't normally do anything but my daughters 10th Birthday on the 2nd so said she can have 1 last party as it were and go out with a bang. So organised a Bonfire Party for the 4th. I'm getting mine on -line-will prob spend about £60. Tesco doing a good offer buy 1 get 1 free-this on boxes of 20 fireworks too. Doing loads of games, hotdogs, etc fireworks should last about 40 min-1hr. wouldn't normally bother but hey your not 10 everyday. Anyone got a good treacle toffee recipe, not the hardcore toffee soft.lol. catherine xx |

When kids were young we went to outdoor display on Clapham Common. I don't agree with Bonfire night - so do nothing. Sylvxx |

Winter Drawers Ever Near | Report | 23 Oct 2006 15:13 |
Haven't bought fireworks in over 20 years, just sparklers for the young ones to hold with adult supervision. The Round Table put a display on in the park every year and it attracts upwards of 15,000 people. They used to build the bonfire with unwanted wood etc which people used to donate but now it is made with pallets instead. We are spoiled though as our house back onto the park, so family and friends all come and watch it from the garden, and the older kids sit on the back shed for a ringside seat. I lay on hot food etc and we have a great time. Most of the neighbours do the same and a couple have barbeques and its an excuse to have a party. Aileen xx |

I live in a cul de sac with 12 houses in we all chip in money for fireworks and each family get different food for everyone to share. It is really good as we get loads of fireworks and have a good get together. Each house spends about £10, so the price is not bad either. Jackie |

Answer Nuffink! just get miffed by all the bangs & wotnots cos our puss doesnt understand why!! Think ALL firework displays should be confined to the 5th & only under strict control. Ita way past its sell by date now. |

Oh Shirley, I am so with you on this one.!! I went to my local Morrisons about a week ago and outside there was this lad, about 11, with a sort of 'guy' saying penny for the guy. As I passed I said, 'Bit early mate, there's another 3 weeks to go'. Definitely all past its sell-by date. Sylvxx |

Our little girlie's so fastidious !! she just wants to go outside & do what she has to!!! doesn't hurt anyone cos she keeps IT in the garden,BUT shes frightened out of her life with all the bangs from now till end of Nov at least All firework displays should be confined to the 5th &&& under strict control. At least then we will know that our pets have to be confined then and can act accordingly. I ts the morons who think its Ok to let fireworks off from Oct to Dec who are the problem |

Try to get out of going to a Bonfire party that I really dont want to go to, because of who the hosts are. Might suggest to my father in law we take some fireworks to his (he's got big garden, we havent) or go to the display in the village that my hubby grew up in. My grandad died on Bonfire night 2001, so I feel a bit guilty. As the fireworks go off, I always say a silent 'hello grandad' to him. |

Like others, I stay home with my dog who goes absolutely frantic with all the huge bangs and noise. I have no objection to people celebrating Guy Fawkes Night on 5TH NOVEMBER (we can medicate our pets for ONE night)....but they don't do they! Even our locally sponsored Round Table display is on the blinkin 4TH! Dee x |

What puzzles me is why haven't the health and safety brigade banned fireworks, they seem to ban everthing else, but something that is dangereous doesn't get banned. I think only organised displays should be allowed. How many more people are going to be injured before health and safety bann them? Sue |
