I was a child in the 50s and there was much fascination for things that were 'different' in those non-tech days. A neighbour's daughter had a toy that we loved to be allowed to play with at her house. I think it was called Princess Ann's bedroom and was a large box structure made of wood, which opened out to form a room with wardrobe full of dolls clothes and best of all a little bed that folded down from the wall. I don't suppose for one minute that it was anything like a royal bedroom ( and that may not have even been it's name) but it was very special to us. More up to date My daughter often says she always wanted a Froggy piano, ...where the frogs' mouths opened as the notes were pressed. Gwyn

I always wanted a horse, I kept on and on one year hoping my mother and father would give in by christmas time. but about 2 months before christmas my father left us so my mother had to explain that she wouldn't have as much money to spend on me that year, (Oh well bang goes the horse). When I woke up on christmas morning amongst my presents was a hard hat for riding, NO i didn't get the horse but my mother had bought the hat ready to go with the horse before my father left. I did use my hat though --- when I had riding lessons a few times.
