Looks like number of postings has gone up to 180 and they;ll probably be more if they realised the thread was here. Bear in mind some members who might be away/ill/on holiday but would otherwise put their names down. |

If you have only one person in your tree, the new system probably works fine. Unfortunately the new system is a time consuming nightmare when managing a large tree. The longer folk have been active members, the bigger their trees are likely to have become and the more likely that their contacts number a couple of hundred. Therefore these are the very people most affected by the changes. It is nothing to do with unwillingness to cope with change. |

Another difference of opinion here Tracey ..LOL ....I don't entirely agree with you. I have 500 odd in my tree and I happen to like the new tree. I'll like it a whole lot more once it's fully functional, but heck Rome wasn't built in a day and I think that Genes are doing their best to try to accommodate everyones needs, rather than desires. I too remember the site changing from Genes Connected to Genes Reunited.... The colour scheme changing, and the old tree when it was the new tree.... and the hue and cry that ensude each and every change! The world keeps turning and change is a natural process of evolution. Nothing stays the same forever, and that includes everyones favourite websites. Adapt and evolve with it, or be a dinosaur and fade away. I wish more people here could see the glass half full rather than a glass half empty. XXX Sioux |

I'm all for change if it isn't a backwards step or if it isn't rushed through half-complete and would like the new tree better if it didn't take at least 5 minutes to load each time and hadn't scrambled some of my data! I know I'm not the only one having problems as one of my contact's trees in particular has been playing up something rotten since the changes. It had been working perfectly before but now sections of it are floating unattached to the main tree - very odd. Maybe it will sort itself out when all the bugs have been fixed. Fingers crossed! Hopefully GR will rationalise the print tree function too. It used to be possible to select and print sections of trees without colour-fill. But for now, as printing the new tree consumes so much ink, it is back to the good old days of pen and paper! |
