Hi All, I love having something in the fridge to nibble on and give to the neighbours for small gifts for Xmas but the ones I have are getting a bit old. So maybe it's time to add some new ones. Who has some yummy ones then ? Thanks Mel

Hi Mellow Yellow, A slice is like a cake but not a cake, it is made in a shallow tray and most of the time there is no cooking involved ( thats why I like them ) Here is one I always make; Easy Caramel Slice 1 pkt morning coffee biscuits 1/2 tin of condensed milk 3 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar 125g of Butter 1. Crush the biscuits. 2. Melt remaining ingredients together over a low heat. 3. Add the crushed biscuits to butter mixture and press into a lined slice pan. Chill Topping- 60g Copha 100g Chocolate. 4. Melt Copha with chocolate and spread over the slice 5. Chill for 10 min only, before cutting into fingers. Yummy and no oven needed. Maybe they are called something different in the UK

I used to love that when I was a kid Mel! How about a bit of good old fashioned flapjack? You could add some dried fruit.......cherries, raisins or dried apricots.......to liven it up a bit.

Not a 'slice' exactly.........but very nice. Packet Ginger Snaps Sherry Whipped Cream Pour a half-tsp of sherry on each biscuit and allow to soak in........sandwich together with whipped cream to form a 'log'......... coat with whipped cream. Doesn't last long!! Reg

Hi Reggie and David, I will try those ones they do sound yummy. Chris - I make that one too, another one on my tried and tested and super yummy list. Carol - Copha is a vegetable shortening ( so it says on the packet ) the ingredients are hardened coconut oil and Soya Bean Lecithin. I am not sure what it is like in the UK. If you make chocolate crackels it is the same stuff that goes in that. Please keep them coming Mel

Hi Mel, just seen this, here goes one of my favourites.............. Wicked Chocolate slices. 225g/8oz Butter 3tbsp golden syrup 300g packet digestive biscuits roughly crushed 400g/14oz plain chocolate in pieces. Grease your tray, Put the butter, golden syrup and cocoa powder in a bowl and melt in a microwave on high 20 secs in a 900w model Add the crushed biscuits and mix thoroughly, crushing any large pieces as you do. Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin, allow to cool then cover ans chill for 30 mins. Put the chocolate in a bowl and either melt in the microwave 1min 40secs, or heat over a simmering pan of water, Stir once until smooth, allow to cool slightly. puor the melted chocolate onto the chilled slice. Smooth over and place in fridge till set. Hope you enjoy this. Wendy.xxxxx
