I am training to do my dream job and have been for the last 2 years (1 year left then have to find a job). From the time I was 5/6 I wanted to be a paediatric nurse and I soon will be - am loveing every minute of my training except getting up at 4;30 to go to work on the wards.

Always wanted to be a midwife :~D Would still love to be one, but the state of the NHS regarding Midwives is diabolical and getting worse. You do all that training and then end up with no job as there aren't enough paid positions. *tsk* terrible state for expectant mums to be in. Heaps of midwives are going private now or going abroad to work :~( Ended up as a Reiki practitioner and an almost fully qualified EFT practitioner ;~D XX Sioux

I always wanted to be an Air Hostess, sounded very grand & thought it would give me lots foreign travel with time to visit places I always wanted. Was a very 'rose glasses'view of what an air hostess did & how much time she had in between flights for sight seeing. Am glad now I didnt do it as it seems the poor girls get very jaded thro lack of sleep & quick turnarounds so no time to even see past the foreign airports

I read a book on Forensic science and love watching the programmes about it. It sounds like a fascinating albeit gruesome career. As for archaeology, I'd love to have done that too. My old company, which I left a couple of weeks ago, is about to move to a brand new office, and the old office, is being pulled down to make way for flats. As the site is very close to Norwich Cathedral, they will be doing a dig there before the build. How I would love to be involved in that, but I have arthritis and wouldn't be able to get down there. I loved digging around in the garden when I was a kid, always pulling up bits of old china and teaspoons, the odd penny or ha'penny and of course the usual screws and washers lol

If I could have my time again I would have liked to have been a Forensic Pathologist/Scientist. I find the way that crimes are solved through DNA and minute traces of evidence fascinating.

I wanted to be a hairdresser when I was at school but my parents didn't think it was appropriate for a grammar school girl to become a hairdresser!! Still to this day I love anything to do with hair colouring, cutting, styling etc. Sal - on the subject of archaeological digs, I always watch that British program on Tuesday on ABC where they do the archaeological digs in Britain. That is so fascinating. But hey don't worry about finding money on the shores of Sydney Harbour, did you see the SMH yesterday where they have dug up an almost complete hafted stone axe, a relic from the Stone Age in Wollemi National Park. The guy who found it said it was like something he had dreamed about since he was a kid and decided to study archaeology. My friend's sister in UK goes to Eygpt as a volunteer to do digs. You could always do something like that? Lyn (Sydney)

I remember wanting to be a red coat at one time. Only because when you are on holiday they do seem to be having fun. I did want to join the RAF as maybe a dog handler. I did all the interview and even medical but they only offered me nursing which I was not in the slightest bit interested in so that was the end of that.

Hi Sal. Yes of course,,,,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It took months before I took courage to handle a bit of bone,or part scull!!!!!! its the greatest feelling when things are unearthed and they are being seen for the first time in centries,,,,I get to go about 4/5 times a year, they welcome helpers,,,,, I have been a sorter and washer for the Time Team lot, when they dug in my local area,,,,,,,,,,, Get a metal detector they are brilliant and I have got loads of stuff from that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,of course any finds of real value are given to the Heritage group, but if I am on a farmers land then all finds of value have to be given to him, or told of them and if he doesnt want it then you get to keep it,,but some coins or gold come under restrictions,,,,,,,,,, kay,
