Joseanne I do hope your son will keep his job. I agree with Chris - re: go the american way and ask for ID for all alcohol/ciggy purchases. I was in USA last year and bought some alcohol in a supermarket and laughed when they asked for ID - course they were serious! There I was a mere 55 yr old being asked for ID. It can be very hard for staff to judge people's ages when they want to purchase alcohol/ciggies as my daughter who is 25 yrs old looks about 16 and has to constantly show her drivers license to prove her age. My workmate is 31yrs old, mother of 2 boys, but because she is so tiny (4' 10') she always has to provide ID when she purchases ciggies for her OH. Please keep us updated on the outcome of all this. Haven't heard anything yet. He isn't due in to work again till Saturday so lets just hope his manager is of the understanding nature. Mind you it is only a part time job, he's just left college and would you believe it he has applied to the PCSO's and is waiting to hear, I suppose if he hears he got through the first stage he'll have to tell them. As you can imagine he isn't very happy at the moment, it is only an express shop and he knows that these spot checks are done more often on them, he has always asked for id before but the time he didn't well you known whats happened. I'll ask him about how many refusals he had made and entered in the book. Will let you know what happens. |
