I will do the vote about 5pm today. Are there any more with suggestions please. It is lovely that we are getting people suggest books they have enjoyed. I wonder if they would also come back at the end of the month and join in the review if their book is chosen. Ann Glos

Dee - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is something I would be interested in reading, if the local library has a copy. I do not read much modern stuff - Michelle

Hi All My suggestions are two I have nominated before but would still like to read! The Accidental Ali Smith The Smart family's lacklustre holiday in Norwich is turned upside down when a beguiling stranger called Amber appears, bringing with her love, joy, pain and upheaval. The Smarts try to make sense of their bewildering emotions as Amber tramples over family boundaries and forces them to think about their world and themselves in an entirely new way. 'The Accidental' is at once a mysterious web of secret identities and a ruthlessly honest look at the silent cracks that can develop unnoticed in relationships over time. Black Swan Green David Mitchell England, 1982, and the cusp of adolescence. Jason Taylor is 13, doomed to be growing up in the most boring family in the deadest village (Black Swan Green) in the dullest county (Worcestershire) in the most tedious nation (England) on earth. And he stammers. 13 chapters, each as self-contained as a short story, follow 13 months in his life and through Jason's eyes, we see what he doesn't know he knows - and watch unfold what will make him wish his life had been as uneventful as he had believed. Classic; Lark Rise to Candleford Flora Thompson As many of you probably know this is the beautiful tale of Flora Thompson's life from childhood to adolecence in rural Oxfordshire in the 19th century. It captures a time and way of life that no longer exists! From a social history point of view, her descriptions of festivals and rural life, are invaluble. Happy reading all Kaz

My choices are The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne Someone is killking good people. Why? A series of murders as far apart as the backstreets of New York, the crowded slums of India and the pristine beaches of Cape Town can't be connected. Can they? Rookie New York Times reporter Will Monroe thinks not until his beautiful wife Beth is kidnapped. The men holding her seem ready to kill without hesitation. Desperate, Will follows a sinister trail that leads to a mysterious cult fanatical followers of one of the world's oldest religions right on his own doorstep. Now he must unravel ancient prophecies and riddles buried deep in the bible to find a secret worth killing for, a secret on which the fate of humanity may depend. But with more victims dying every hour and each clue wrapped in layers of code, time is running out. The coins of Judas by Scott McBain The action committed by Judas for thirty pieces of silver is one of the most famous betrayals in histort. But what happened to those coins- coins which gave thier possessors such a power of evil that they had only been resisted by one man Peter himself. Twenty-five of the coins have been gathered and kept safe in a sacred tomb of St. Peter in the Vatican. But what happened to the remaining five? Paul Stauffer a brilliant ambitious criminal psychologist has been responsible for Karl Kramers victorious defence against a brutal murder charge. But in the court room meeting Kramers eyes Paul becomes convinced that he has made a terrible error. He is prevented from action by an unusually persuasive visitor and the first coin appears. Havoc follows in a series of macabre accidents in his home and his office to family friends students and colleges. His most formidable adversary is Cardinal Benelli. He knows of the evil performed by the previous holders of the coins men such as Diocletian but none seem to believe Benelli as terrifying as the conjunction of the hapless Paul Stauffer with the rise again of that legendary figure the Magus. The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar wilde When the exquistely handsome Dorian Gray sees his portrait he dreams of remaining young forever while his painted image grows old and in a sudden moment he offers his soul in return for perpetual youth. While his beauty remains unblemished the portrait begins to reflect the wildness and degredation of his soul as he surrenders to a worship of pleasure and infinite passion. Not sure if you good people read this sort of thing but I love a good thriller!! Jackie

Jackie, Please do join us. As already said we suggest two ordinary books and one classic, on Sunday 8th we will vote on the three for October. We then read as many as we can and at the end of October I will put up a review thread when we review the books we have read. if you put Greaders into search you can see what has been read and reviewed before.
