Confessing and rejecting Christ. If anyone declares publicly that he belongs to me,I will do the same for him before my Father in heaven. But if anyone rejects me publicly,I will reject him before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10 v32-33

Peace. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world does..Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid. You heard me say to you,` I am leaving, but I will come back to you. If you loved me,you would be glad that I am going to the Father; for He is greater than I. John 14 v 27-28

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God,and he who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. St. John 4.

Put on then, as Gods chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, forbearing one to another and,if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. I think these are lovely words,a great favourite of mine. Colossians 3 v 12-15

Week beginning 4th June. Theme: Light / Lamp SUNDAY: Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119 v 105 Revised Standard Version MONDAY: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27 v 1 - 2 RSV TUESDAY: You are like a light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead he puts it on a lampstand where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5 v 14 - 16 Good News Bible. WEDNESDAY: For You, O Lord, are my lamp; the Lord lightens my darkness. 2 Samuel 22 v 29 Amplified. THURSDAY: The people who live in darkness will see a great light. On those who live in the dark land of death a light will shine. Matthew 4 v 16 GNB FRIDAY: The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are no good your body will be in darkness. So, if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be! Matthew 6 v 22 - 23 SATURDAY: The God who said 'out of darkness the light shall shine' is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God's glory shining in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4 v 6

Luke 10:25-37 The Parable of the Good Samaritan 25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. 'Teacher,' he asked, 'what must I do to inherit eternal life?' 26 'What is written in the Law?' he replied. 'How do you read it?' 27 He answered, ' 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' []; and, 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' []' 28 'You have answered correctly,' Jesus replied. 'Do this and you will live.' 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, 'And who is my neighbour?' 30 In reply Jesus said: 'A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii [] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' 36 'Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?' 37 The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.' Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'
