I had measles when I was 5, I remember being really ill, it's a nasty disease, thank goodness children can be immunised against it nowadays. I was about 8 when I had mumps, I must have had it quite mildly,no high temperature, it was a bit painful to eat, I remember.

I had measles when I was 5 but no other childhood illnesses although my sister had scarlet feaver and chicken pox too and we shared a bedroom. My own children had chicken pox but I still didn't catch it and working in schools I've been in contact with many childhood illnesses but not caught them.

My children - all three of them - had measles and chicken pox together - good timing and bad timing as we were just about to go on our annual leave. We were in Africa and had everything packed so couldn't travel. My youngest daughter still has marks on her face where she scratched her spots. Sylvia xxx

I had mumps when I was about five but I wasn't too poorly with them. Had measles as well. Didn't get chicken pox until the grand old age of 40 - just after my little boy had them. (He had them for Christmas and I had them for the New Year and my birthday!) Lx

I had measles and mumps in the same year when I was 7. The doctor thought that I would be better off at home than in hospital, though I was very poorly. I remember when I was getting better having lots of icecream for my sore throat - my mum had to lift my head off the pillow & spoon it into me. Also, unheard-of luxury, I had the TV in my bedroom! My brother waited until he was 13 to get mumps and somehow avoided measles althogether. I had chickenpox when I was 11 and missing a lot of music lessons meant I could finally give up playing the piano. I thought I had had rubella/German measles, but I actually got it when I was 24 - no idea who from. I was very alarmed as I had been to a party with a colleague who was in the early stages of pregnancy, when I discovered I was covered in blotches. The friend had already had a baby that died two years earlier, so I was very worried. Fortunately she gave birth to a healthy baby, who is now a teenager! nell

I remember getting mumps at the age of sixteen for the second time and just on the one side. Mum and I both got it from my then six year old brother, she was not impressed. lol... I had all the kiddie illnesses as well! Had whooping cough real bad and so did my other brother, those days the medicines were thick and vile tasting and I could not hold them down...YUUKY.. Lindy;-))
