I am disgusted and appalled at the number of people on this board who have such little compassion and show such lack of feeling. How many of you can honestly say you have never made a mistake - and I mean NEVER done or said something you later wished you hadn't? How many of you know someone who has had an affair? A broken marriage?? A bad relationship of any kind? Would you show such animosity to them??? I am frankly amazed at the vitreolic, hateful remarks made about another human being, based solely on what you have read in the press! |

I agree with Lisa. I presume you are not talking about 'Joe in the Street' - we are talking about probably the most prominent person in the country at the moment. The idea of the monarchy is to lead the country, and I for one do not see Prince Charles as a likely candidate for that task. I have no problem with him having an affair (things happen), but I do have a problem with him parading his paramour in front of the British public and excepting total acceptance of her. It is well documented that Mrs Parker-Bowles played a vey prominent part in Prince Charles life before, during and after the death of Diana. I am saddened that Princess Diana's memory is being denegrated by the parade of Camilla Parker-Bowles and particularly angered that she is to receive a title that Diana was deprived off, after the divorce from Charles. sorry if my views offend you; I really have no problem with the frailities of humanity, but feel that I do not have to accept the frailities of our so-called Future King as being 'a mistake'. Hi Sarah and everyone else, I have to be perfectly honest and say that I was definitely in the 'Diana' camp in the years of her marriage and for a time after her death. If this thread had been running then, I would indeed have been very guilty of being vitriolic - however, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, and I've looked at their situation quite differently - what if I were in Camilla's shoes? I, and I'm sure pretty much most people would feel immense hurt at reading day in day out of reasons why I couldn't marry the man that I truly loved. I used to detest the idea of Camilla marrying Charles, but then on reflection, if their children are happy with it-and they certainly seem to be - then it should be ok with anyone else. Personally, I now believe that she would be a good queen, devoted to her man and everything he stands for. Lucy. |

i think that diana plays a big part in peoples life and people cannot let go.me included.i have met diana when she visited portsmouth back in the 80's and she was a very lovely person.like i had said if diana had lived and had a happy life with another man then maybe i would have felt differently about this marriage.but it was dianas messy end to her life that makes me so mad about this.xxxx): |

As in our own personal circumstances, those who hold bitter contempt for another person only end up hurting themselves.I find it extrodinary that people can get so emotional /het-up about Charles getting married to the woman he has loved forever...........a real fairytale ending to their story. |

I do apologise - this thread was not intended to be yet another discussion on the rights or wrongs of the forthcoming marriage, and I have no intentions of getting into a debate on that matter. The point I am making is in relation to the manner in which some people express their opinions. Surely it is irrelevant whether the person who is the subject of such abuse is Joe Public or a prominent figure? And just because someone is in the public eye doesn't mean we know them any better than Joe Public, nor should it mean we have the right to use such offensive remarks about them. |

Bella - I am not 'het-up' about Charlie marrying his doxy - really I couldn't give a monkey's! What I hate is the fact that we (and I mean the Great British Public) are now expected to bow down to a man and a woman who committed adultery (and we, the Great British Public that is, is now expected to forget all about it, as they are 'getting married' in a blaze of publicity) and I really find that hard to take; sorry, but I am probably a Republican at heart - lol Jacqui |

I agree with you Sarah - I'm surprised people get so excited considering how little effect it has on our lives. My life has been far from perfect whereas I'm assuming the majority of those criticising have led blameless lives lol |

David - quite right - I have great difficulty lying down - lol Bella Donna - The adultery I can live with, it's the bare faced cheek of publicly parading it that I find hypocritical, and I also have problems with who is footing the bill for all this nonsense - the marriage that is - I know the Queen is paying for the nosh (probably sausage rolls, quiche and cheese and pineapples - lol) but I think we will find along the line that we (the Great British Public) are paying for all the palavaver by some means or other.
