I remember reading one of the Magic Faraway Tree books where the children got stuck in one of the lands above the cloud and one of them had sardine ice cream - eurgh.

No 1 would be a great place for a meet CB! Still has the vaults so similar in atmosphere to the London meet in Feb. Often go there for lunch and we had hubby's office Christmas dinner there. Many moons ago I had my hen night there - very funny story which I'll tell you one day! Daisy

Daisy, In that case, I don't mind so much - No 1 King's Parade has always been a favourite. Good place for a future GR Meet, perhaps in the Uni hols? CB >|< X

It disappeared suddenly. I think the company had some problems and were supposed to have been bought by Hamleys. They may have another premises somewhere, but for now the restaurant at No 1 King's Parade has extended its premises into what was the Teddy Shop. Daisy

I used to love one that was a sort of apple with crumble., I've not seen it for ages though. I love coffee too. Can't stand mint, it's like mouth wash! Louise

Daisy, I can't believe the Teddy shop has gone! It always seemed to be full of customers, and they certainly catered to all tastes. I was hoping to replace my 'London' bear T-shirt there this summer, as I've put a hole in the old one. Oh, POOH! CB >|< X

CB we can certainly do Don's and The Fudge Kitchen but, alas, The Teddy Bear Shop has gone! Used to love going in there for a cuddle of all the bears and bought a gorgeous little chap with his light blue Cambridge jersey last year when my daughter was offered her Uni place. See you here soon! Daisy

Abigail, That yogurt sounds wonderful! I've had a few frozen yogurts before - nice but nothing as exotic as that. Definitely something to look out for! CB >|<

CB you are SO right! My favourite is actually not an ice cream but a frozen yoghurt I discovered at Burleigh last year. They have plain frozen yogurt and you choose your fruit (frozen). They mix them together in a kind of strong blender and then it is squeezed out into a cup. There is nothing quite so tangy or refreshing with the same smoothness of ice cream on the tongue. My favourite is raspberry but I tried several and they were all fab. Can't get it anywhere about though. Will have to go back to Burleigh I think! Abigail

Hi Daisy, Yes, we must do Don Pasquale's one day - a quattro formaggio pizza, followed by their pistachio ice cream and a cappuccino would be a real treat, although I'd also have to visit Jim McGarrahy's Fudge Kitchen, or I'd never be allowed back home! It's like hallowed ground to my family. I prefer the English Teddy Bear shop - less fattening! LoL CB >|< X

Coffee mmmmmmmm!!! and a Ben and Jerry's (I think) one, that I can't remember the name of, with chocolate pigs in it! I'll have to ask my daughter tomorrow what it's called! Sorry - senior blonde moment! LOL Sue xx P.S. D-in-L went to a Hungry Horse pub yesterday and had an enormous ice cream desert with lots of different Cadbury's chocolate bits in the ice cream. Curly Whirly, Dairy Milk, Crunchie etc. It cost £4.99, and she managed to eat most of it. She is taking me there next week - can't wait.

went to a dinner party at a friends many moons ago and she had made pernod and green fig ice cream - it was fab! Used to make brown bread ice cream for my pub menu and that always went down well too. As for bought ice cream - well I quite like a good old fashioned cornish one.

Hi again CB! Wasn't ignoring you, just remembered I hadn't checked this thread for a while. It's Don Pasquale's and yes it's still there and I go quite often. Shall go in next week and see if they still do it. If they do why don't you pop up and join me in some? Daisy
