You don't make it clear- are you confirming Rose was correct? :)

I know you've already seen the death below- but thought it was a coincidence his date of birth being 7th Jan- that along with the fact I don't see a Joseph Henry Swinbank born in 1905, still makes this a possible.

DEATH:
Joseph Henry Swinbank
Birth Date: 7 Jan 1905
Date of Registration: Dec 1972
Age at Death: 67
Registration district: Exeter
Inferred County: Devon
Volume: 7a
Page: 1141

NOTE: Your original post gives Joseph's birth date as 1st Jan, yet your last post gives it as 7th Jan.

The DOB on a death registration is only as good as the informant's knowledge.

It does seem a bit of a co-incidence that there were two Joseph Swinbanks celebrating a birthday on 7 January.

These are the only Joseph Swinbank birth registrations that appear between 1893 and 1910 :

Births Mar 1893

Swinbank Joseph Henry Newcastle T. 10b 57

Births Mar 1904
SWINBANK Joseph Auckland 10a 227

Births Sep 1910
SWINBANK Joseph Tynemouth 10b 291

Sorry if I have caused confusion this is my Joseph
Births Mar 1904
SWINBANK Joseph Auckland 10a 227

He was born Jan 7th 1904 I apologise for misleading anyone unknowingly.
I have cleared up all the family details re children. Mary H left Joseph c1934 took up with Joseph Shield had 5 children to Joseph Shield. Joseph Shield died in 1962.
Then in 1964 Mary H Swinbank married a Bob Brand!! So I assume Joseph must of died for Mary to remarry again as that would of been Bigamy!!!
But I still cannot find a death for Joseph Swinbank born Jan 7th 1904. :-(

So Rose was correct- well found Rose ;)

Unless Joseph Swinbank died in Scotland, or abroad, I still think the 1972 death needs looking into (regardless of the fact Mary remarried- she may have obtained a divorce a later in life, or assumed Swinbank had died).

Dale, you haven't really acknowledged the 1972 death- don't you think the 7th Jan birth date is too much of a coincidence?

Dale1946 Report 6 Dec 2014 10:20

I know what you are saying but my Joseph Swinbank had no Henry in his name and my Joseph was born in 1904 records prove that. I have also his date of birth re enrolement at his local school Jan. 07 1904.
Of course I will keep an open mind and see if there was a Joseph Henry born in the 1905 period in the Devon area.
This one is a tester. The youngest daughter was adamant no divorce ever took place.
But once again thanks for all your help it is appreciated...if anything turns up I will answer.

Based on the 1904 birth that you gave, i don't see any other possible deaths- however just throwing out another thought-

Do you have the marriage cert of Joseph Swinbank and Mary Wilson? Are you 100% that the Joseph born 1904 is the same Joseph on the marriage cert? What age did he give/ father's name etc.

This death could explain why Mary was able to marry again in '64:

Name: Joseph Swinbank
Birth Date: abt 1891
Date of Registration: Mar 1963
Age at Death: 72
Registration district: Durham Western
Inferred County: Durham
Volume: 1a

Only a thought!

I thought in my lookings I did see a Joseph Henry .trying to find again what I saw doesn't show other than that death

Think I may have had the alternative on when I was on FMP

Gritty Report 6 Dec 2014 16:32

Dale didn't have the marriage cert for Joseph Swinborn and Mary Wilson. He pm'd that he'd made a mistake- the Joseph that married Mary Wilson was born in 1890, his death in 1963 is the one I posted above.

The death in Exeter is for the Joseph born in 1904- he married in Devon under the name Harry Swinborne to Emily Margaret Mary Davey on 28th December 1925. This is confirmed by military records (FMP).

Dale was confirming details before putting it on the boards. I think is now able to find the information he needs.
