The first Sidney L Westwood sounds very close, when it says March 1955 is that just the quarter year the death was registered as I have a date of death 17th feb 1955?

It's the qtr the death was reg in
It would tie with the death being Feb

I would be inclined to getting the death cert for Eric Bill to see who the informant was

But that Sidney is Sidney B not Sidney L Westwood confusing? But only 4 houses from the address that Betty was adopted into very odd

It's a mistake on the census form because this is the marriage

Ah yes I see, so when they say in my file Robert was adopted by Betty’s sister Mrs Bills that can’t be can it?

It's possble they have just added the S to the name


The surname Bill is connected to the family and it does look like it could be Matilda who adopted your brother

With no other leads I would still be inclined to get the death cert for Eric Bill

Matilda and Eric had one daiugter ann b born in 1944 .she did marry but sadly died in1982

Sooo it's possible they adopted Robert as they only had the one child of the marriage

It does seem the Bill and .Westwood family are very intertwined and looked after their own <3

The closed record under Ivy Hampton on the 1939 reg is a female born 16th Oct 1936, not much help but could well be Betty
