Afraid your dna results won’t mean anything on genes reunited

Which site did you use to do your dna ?

Ancestry does cross checking with matches and if you have your tree on there will compare with others who may have the same name/s in their trees

If you want to see if anyone has any of your family names their trees on here then look at members trees which is under the search heading above the boards

KathleenBell Report 24 Jul 2021 08:38

As Shirley has already said - look under "search" and then click "search all member trees". Then put the name Twomey in the surname box and Ireland in the birthplace box. There are 172 results, so you will need to know first names and approximate birth years. Do the same for the other surnames.

You will be able to find matches on the Gedmatch site - unless it has changed you can see which site the others have downloaded from.

MOst of the sites you can have your dna results on give you your matches from the same site.

GR isn't a DNA-matching site.

To get help on here, you need to have first names, birth years and birthplaces on which to base searches of available records.

Have you tried doing any research yourself?

Your parents married in England - a copy of their marriage cert will tell you the names of each of their fathers, assuming you don't already have that info.....................

Several members have you (and your sisters) in their GR trees.......have they asked for your permission to include you?

As John is a member of GR, it may be tactful to remove his birth details

Michelle can find the info herself easily enough if necessary, although as she has him in her tree, one assumes she already has the details.

Also, if I read her post correctly, it’s her mother’s side she’s looking for

Is this your maternal grandparents' marriage?

Marriages Mar 1932 (>99%)
Harland William Morley Whitby 9d 848
Morley Gertrude Harland Whitby 9d 848

Which grandparent is the one with the Irish ancestors?
How far back?

From a quick rummage on Ancestry, it seems to be at least a couple of generations before that.
Perhaps if you give us names and dates of some of the Irish relatives, we can work forwards to the present day.

Hiya sorry guys I did not realise I had got so many reply. I am completely stuck on my Irish side of the familyI am not getting hints matches records or any thing MyHeritage where my main family tree is located.
I did my DNA with LIving DNA and managed some how to upload to GEDmatch. Unfortunately Living have changed something and you can no longer upload to MyHeritage 123 etc. My dad has an extensive Family tree on Ancestry going into to his side of the family.
Thank you for for all the research you guys have done. Thank you nameslessone I did not understand your message lol sorry but thanks for brining my attention to the threads.

Michael Twomey my Great-grandfather 1864 Apr 13 1948 was married to
Hanorah Tattan my Great-grandmother Mar 29 1872 I have no idea when she died.
I have no information on his parents or siblings.
Hanorah Tattan parents where John Tattan my Great-great-grandfather married to Catherine(Kate) Shea my Great-great-grandmother B Mar 29 1872 D Feb 9 1922.
again on I have no information on siblings or parents. I have been told Johns dad was also John Tattan and Kate's mum was Catherine Shea.
On my mums mum side of the family I have Peter Redmond my Great-grandfather
B 1888 D1936 with Julia Cahill my Great-grandmother b1890. D June 27 1915 her mum and dad are Timothy Cahill and Julia Riordan B1855 I believe her mum is Mary Riordan.
I am finding no records and can find no information on siblings. Any help would be appreciated. take care and have fun Shell x

Thanks for the pm. The only thing that you can upload onto Genes is a tree.

If you are not getting Irish matches on My Heritage then you are unlucky. I have loads but as none of them have trees going back far enough I can’t work out any connections.

Get your Dad to do a dna test and upload it to Gedmatch, then you will be able to work out which matches of yours are not on his list.

As you have posted your query on more than one board, I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for, and it's not clear from your posts.

Are you hoping to find living relatives?
Or are you trying to extend your tree further into the past?

Unfortunately, ifi you are looking for actual records, Irish records can be quite patchy, as many have been destroyed.
