Good Afternoon to the Singing Thread :-) :-) :-)

Most of you Know by now that I love my Welsh Rugby! :-D
So in readiness of tonight's match (Wales V Tonga-7.30pm)-

H-
(The Chorus is sang by Welsh Rugby Supporters in Stadiums all over the world when Wales are playing!)
HYMNS AND ARIAS..........Welsh Comedian / Singer MAX BOYCE

CHORUS......And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'....

We paid our weekly shilling for that January trip:
A long weekend in London, aye, without a bit of kip.
There's a seat reserved for beer by the boys from Abercarn:
There's beer, pontoon, crisps and fags and a croakin 'Calon Lan'.

CHORUS......And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.....

Into Paddington we did roll with an empty crate of ale.
Will had lost at cards and now his Western Mail's for sale.
But Will is very happy though his money all has gone:
He swapped five photos of his wife for one of Barry John.

CHORUS......And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.........

We got to Twickers early and were jostled in the crowd;
Planted leeks and dragons, looked for toilets all around.
So many there we couldn't budge -twisted legs and pale:
I'm ashamed we used a bottle that once held bitter ale.

CHORUS......And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.......

Wales defeated England in a fast and open game.
We sang 'Cwm Rhondda' and 'Delilah',
damn, they sounded both the same.
We sympathised with an Englishman
whose team was doomed to fail
So we gave him that old bottle, that once held bitter ale!

Changed Chorus.....He started singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'......

So it's down to Soho for the night,
to the girls with the shiny beads;
To the funny men with lipstick on,
with evil minds and deeds.
One said to Will from a doorway dark,
damn, she didn't have much on.
But Will knew what she wanted,
aye...his photo of Barry John!

Changed Chorus........'Cos she was singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

MAX BOYCE CHANGED THE WORDS OF THIS SONG TO SUIT THE OCCASION-SUCH AS WHEN WALES PLAYED IRELAND.

THIS WAS A VERSION FOR A WALES V ALL BLACKS MATCH! :-D :-D

It was a dank November day, in a week that had seen rain
And all roads led to Cardiff with the All Blacks here again.
They streamed down from the valleys – they came from far and wide
Yes Warren was THAT desperate to find a decent side……. : )

Chorus...And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.

He’d scoured all the big clubs – The Ospreys and the Blues
He even tried the Scarlets – that really made the news!
The Dragons were “too busy” they had to wash their socks
But Ebbw Vale were up for it – and the WAGS had booked a box.

They hired a fleet of buses that were paid for by their backer
They commandeered the valley train, and learnt the Ebbw Hakka
They got to Cardiff early and paraded through the streets
[The WAGS went to John Lewis to buy the kids some treats.]

A mighty battle then ensued upon the hallowed grass
The All Black winger nearly scored but fell upon his...... "knee"!
The Ebbw fly half launched a kick that sailed across the bar
It even cleared the grandstand and dented Warren’s car.

And as the final whistle went with all eyes on the score
The Stadium resounded with a great red-shirted roar
The valley boys had proved they were the greatest rugby team
What’s that? Alarm clock…. Half past 7…….but what a CRACKING dream!!
