This appears to be a duplicate thread. The other one is at:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/suggestions/thread/1270355

PLEASE NOTE: I have posted an update on the thread (link above) about a patch released today that will hopefully fix this issue.

I am locking this thread from further response. Please use the one linked above.

M, that is helpful advice, thank you; however, genes reunited have acknowledged that there are problems in the site that are ongoing and that they are having difficulties in resolving the issues, but they are doing their best.

Hi guys

One theory that is coming to mind is that some of you may have your browser settings set for wiping your history, after you have finished on the internet or for when you shut down your pcs/laptops? This would wipe your passwords unless you choose to have them saved. Does this sound possible?

For those of you using Firefox, go into Tools. Then Options. Then Security. There should be a box, halfway down the left-hand side that says 'Remember passwords for sites' - this should be ticked. Opposite it is a button that says 'Saved passwords' - this should have a log of all the websites that you have your passwords saved for.
If there have been any websites that, in the past, you have declined to have your password saved for, these will appear in the 'Exceptions' button directly opposite the 'Remember passwords...' button talked about above. If you DO now want your password to be saved by Firefox, then just delete the website name from the Exceptions list.

I hope this may be of some help to someone. I don't use Windows Explorer,. so can't offer any help for passwords on that site, however, I wouldn't be too surprised if there was a similar setup for it.

Stephen

I have taken this from a list of things that GR are working through from one of the GR staff

"As you must all be aware we have (and sadly are) experiencing technical difficulties in the last few weeks. We have identified some problems areas and these are being worked on and tested."

I was offering a stopgap... I am well aware that they know... but how long does it take to fix the problem. I could look back but this has been happening well before 6th of June.

If I had a leaking roof I wouldn't expect my plumber to take so long to fix the leak.

As an MP in our parliament said " how long is a piece of string? The answer may as well be Mary Jane."

It seems to have run amok, i have had over 200 watched threads in the last hour. Which i deleted only to find a futher 60. the problem that i posted is nothing to do with your browser or caches. And i concure with Cynthia the problem lines firmly with GR. So don't be fobbed off they know the problem.

This was the responce from - Julie last week around the 6th June

Our technical team are aware of the specific problem that you reported and we will be implementing a solution as soon as is possible.

On FB they are apologising because the site keeps going 'intermittently down'.

It isn't anything to do with browsers/caches etc. The problem lies with GR unfortunately.

I've only just manage to log on after trying for a while.

Using co,za, sometimes one has to sign in, sometimes one doesn't.
In my experience recently, this applies to all versions of the site.

Stephen

use genesreunited.co,za and if it defaults to UK just go back to the tool bar and change the uk to za....
I live in NZ but have not used the NZ log in since 2006. I either use uk or za and have recently found za to be my best bet.

Good idea to clear your cache of all previous GR log ins and start again.

had a response from the GR team this morning.
Guess what?
All the problems are caused by my browser.
Nothing to do with Genes.
