I still have my messages back to 2004 ......... although there do seem to be fewer than I remember

I should get my act together, and save any important ones to my computer ........ somthing I've been "intending" to do for years. And we all know what can happen to "intensions" :-D

Joy

you can open pms and respond using IE

I have to use Mozilla Firefox to open pms and respond

:-S :-S :-S

Plus .... I have just discovered that it seems I can open a maximum of 6 old emails to check what is in them, and then even Firefox freezes up and refuses to open any more. :-|

I guessed that was it Ann

.... but I think it would be better to keep all comments and reports in the same place, then they don't get diluted.

Just a question - Sylvia's post was 21:36 when my computer's clock was 21:34 - is the clock slow?

To be honest I am really not bothered as long as they solve the problems. If Phil wants I'll delete this thread.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 1 Dec 2011 22:16

Is nowhere safe.......? :-S

I've got problems on FB and can't chat to anyone........seems as though they have a problem with that facility as there are complaints from all around the world :-(

I will have to go and lie down in a darkened room..............

Sylvia,

Nothing to do with your browser, this time. There was / is a bug on the page which lists your messages. Having read a message, if you return to your list of messages then you will find that if you click on a new message, after a few times, nothing happens. It isn't your browser freezing it is GR.

If you refresh the page either by clicking on the 'reload current page' icon on your browser, or by pressing F5, you should then be able to select another message. Alternatively re-select your inbox using either the link on the left or drop-down menu at the top of your screen.

Thanks, IGP

I was assuming it was GR's fault ........... naughty of me, I know :-)

My Friday update (just a little after Friday though).

We still have some work to do over the weekend and a release to do next week, but we will also go through the message threads and make sure we are covering all the issues that have been mentioned.

Today was more spent on the looking for other performance/bugs (the ones that have been around awhile). We are working a few new solutions, and need to do some more testing. More news early next week.

Many thanks for the update, Phil.

It is much appreciated :-D

Is it just me or is anyone else not having any particular problems with the message centre?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 4 Dec 2011 08:01

IGP

Lots of people are having problems with the Message Centre .............. they just haven't been saying it on either this thread or the one I put up.

One of my contacts has not been able to send any pms since the new Message Centre was set up ...... and thinks she now never will be able to.

There have been some comments on FB

Most people, like always, are suffering in silence because they think it is THEIR computer at fault!

There are very weird things happening .........................

Like I cannot use IE to send pms, but can use Mozilla Firefox.

Joy Kenthish Maid cannor use Chrome or Firefox to send pms, but can use IE

Now explain that one!

Helena

Helena Report 4 Dec 2011 16:00

I have rasied two logs, last week and still no response..... I am actually thinking of cancelling my subscription as all my messages that have benen sent since I upgraded have vanished from my inbox. I am very IT literate and no they have not been a) deleted b) moved. They have vanished. The emails were very important to me as I had established contact with a distant relative. They have resent them, BUT - yup you guessed it they have vanished again !!

Beyond frustrated and totally exasperated at the lack of response from I.T. or maybe they have responded and the emails have vanished, who knows...... :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Can't see how I can be expected to use GR........ any ideas ??

philmoir

philmoir Report 4 Dec 2011 16:32

Am sending Helena a message to say that I believe I have restored her messages.

This may have been caused by a misunderstanding with the new "conversation" view, where it shows all the messages in a chain of replies back and forward. When you select delete when viewing the conversation it will delete the whole conversation. I will review the messaging to make sure it is very clear that this is what happens.

philmoir

philmoir Report 4 Dec 2011 16:35

And the weird browser results. I tried some stuff in IE9 today and it was fine, but tried the same in IE7 and it wasn't. I am not making it an excuse, but it is getting much harder to support all browsers, pads, mobile devices, Macs, Windows, etc. We will endeavour to meet the needs of our members as best we can. In the short term we will look into these inconsistencies.

philmoir

philmoir Report 4 Dec 2011 16:36

And I am going to merge this thread when next in office! Sorry it was not done last week.

Joy

IE7 is okay currently, Phil ;-)
Chrome and Firefox were not too happy :-S :)

Helena,

I'm beginning to think that way too - all my message history with other members over the past 6/7 years has disappeared too.

What is the point in staying with GR.

Joy

Joy Report 4 Dec 2011 17:20

"my message history with other members over the past 6/7 years has disappeared too." - mine between 2004 and near the end of 2007 disappeared.

Edited:
"What is the point in staying with GR." - if one left, and later thought about rejoining, it would cost considerably more to rejoin in the future ;-)
