Unless one returns to a thread where you have been posting you may not be aware that your post had been reported and then later removed. As Joy says GR does not necessarily tell you.. I had one reported no rhyme or reason. I waited for them to advise me.. so I asked them and I got told:

"Please ensure that when you add a posting to a thread it is relevant to the thread you are posting it on.
We do have a general chat page on the community boards and hope members will use this page for this type of posting"

Thank you for your reply., I am none the wiser because of it.

My post was absolutely relevant and fitted in with what was being discussed on the thread. That is a fun thread and a lot of chat is had on it. The first post and the second because the first one kept getting reported at one time are guide lines re the use of the ancestry board. Nearly all of us that post on there help people. I help a lot of people with NZ content even to the point of traveling to places to do research for them. To keep that thread at or near the top of the thread we discuss all sorts of things that is why it has over 30,000 posts and my post did not contravene anything. In fact I repeated what I had said further on because someone asked me what had been removed and it is still there along with all our other fun. The person who started the thread and others do not understand your reaction to it anymore than I do.

I do go on General Chat on specific threads from time to time, and I do know how to use the boards.

Oh well one can only assume that there is some one out there that is not happy with me.

I felt redeemed but the post could not be reinstated... I worked out what my original post was by back arrowing until I got it.

Suzanne I do know one of your posts on another thread was removed I saw the RR . and it was no longer there a couple of days later.. it did not affect the reading of the thread so maybe no one else noticed.

I saw where the one Island is referring to had been RRd and so I posted on it to bring it back to the front of the boards and DET and a few others posted after me.

Persie ... Not the phantom RR .. just the finder of them...

1) No mocking from me, :-D :-D :-D was referring to how daft it is in all seriousness calling someone a phantom. I can imagine a bloke dressed in black with a hat & mask ., finger poised over the rr button.

one of my posts that got RRd has been changed to say why it was deleted. Is this unusual? I thought posts were either restored or removed.

Well- thats new! Although irritating to KenSE, at least GR have listened and are expaining why something was deleted.

Maybe they have decided to do that after reading the threads relating to RRd posts and threads.

If so, it looks as if you had done that.

If genes reunited staff decide to edit a post, it would look better, in my opinion, if it stated that they had done that and that the editing had not been done by the original poster.

And if another company should not be mentioned, then the staff could be very busy in future.

I assumed you'd amended your post Ken. It has been that way for a few days.

Jude, can you point us in the direction of similarly altered posts please- if that is what you mean?

Kense post was dated 8th dec when was it RR'd? or are GR only picking and choosing the posts they want to give an explaination too?

I don't know Jax, I didn't see it RR'd, I just noticed it as it is now and assumed Ken had changed it in response to the uncertainty re mentioning other sites.

Estelle has now said they don't mind other sites being mentioned as long as we don't say they are better than GR.

I seem to be having a senior moment (well day really). I can't remember editing it but Island has made me think that perhaps I did a few weeks ago when I had three posts reported for using the other company name.

They are working tonight as they have removed a thread I reported within 30 mins

The abuse team has worked at weekends, in the evening, and at bank holidays for as long as I can remember during my membership.

JoyBoroAngel posted that thread. Thing is from what I saw it didn't breach T&C. The RR post was SUGGESTING that GR creates a board for complaints, to free up these other boards & the FB page for what they were created for.

No other post was reported on the thread so I guess no one took that much offence. Someone got a bit sensitive about being called a Moaning Minnie because they felt they had a right to moan but nothing was being directed at any one person at all. The issue was not about that people shouldn't have a right to complain, but to keep such threads in once place rather than have various threads clogging the boards about the same thing.

IMHO that itself is breaching T&C by posting the same thing more than once & flooding the board whilst doing so. .. :-|

To who it is who took such offence over a suggestion on a suggestion board :-|

Just remember people have as much right to moan about your moaning threads clogging the boards instead of being kept to a few threads, as you feel you have the right to moan & help clog the board at the same time

That brings me to the point of thinking yet again, its more of a dig at the poster rather than the thread itself.

I do hope Abuse will take into consideration how many times people are using the RR button to report individual members, and their reasons why they think a post is unsuitable.

GR does say they will stop people using the RR facility if they abuse it, along with warnings & worse. :-)
