I am trying to find out when this George Prophett was born.
He died
1859 OND Q4
Pg 193
line 17
Nantwich, Cheshire

This isnt the correct death.as this one is age 4!

On Free BMD and on here it only gives his death and doesn't show his birth or his age.
I want to know so I can prove this is the correct person I'm looking at.

Apart from ordering the death cert, can anyone else maybe look at a different site to confirm for me please?

Ok so I have found the death actually on here, after ruling out several using the GRO
and the spelling changes didnt help!
But it comes up with Cheshire Diocese of Chester parish burials so how to do I find the GRO ref number so I can either download or order a death cert.?

Rather than putting the surname just put Pro*. It looks as though there are two spellings in Nantwich.

No they are not the correct ones as checked with GRO and the ages dont match.

When I search on here using Prophet note with 1 T not 2, it comes up with the details but its on the Cheshire Parish of registers and doesn't give the usual find with GRO ref numbers.

I tried BMD with various spellings and this death doesn't come up.
If it shows on a Parish register then it must be reg with the GRO surely? I tried searching but without info except Dod and Dob it doesn't find anything.

It has to be somewhere!

Forgot to say, on Family Search.org, I also found the death and he is buried in Christ Church Macclesfield, Cheshire but it doesn't give any reference numbers.

The 1859 Nantwich death which comes up on FreeBMD (both spellings) is the 4-year-old whom Florence says is the wrong person.

Born approx 1822, there may be no record of his baptism.

This is the only Cheshire baptism of someone of that name that I can find - not in either Nantwich or Macclesfield - but of course, he may not even have been born in Cheshire;

Burials, by definition, are not civil records, and therefore do not have civil reference numbers

When searching for names which can easily be misinterpreted, use the 'phonetic search ' option

Thankyou ArgyllGran, I have found it and ordered the cert.

Even though I searched using other spellings, it didnt bring it up spelt as Profit!! Its a nighmare with all the variations.

He was married to Mary Ann Lamminan in 1841 but he died young. She remarried a few years later. The family of Prophets belong to my late grandmother. He wasnt showing on the 1851 census and shows his wife as the head???? So I needed to prove that he was still alive then as his last child was born in 1859.

I'm hoping the cert will give the address and name of the informant .

Once I get the cert, I shall come back and tell you what it revealed.

No that is not the correct marriage.
The spelling of his name changes from birth to death to census. They obviously spelt his name as it was pronounced!
