Mo in Kent Report 31 Aug 2013 16:12

Wheeeeeee ......there she goes, thats our Jean and her pusher thats just flown onto the thread. Have fun with it Jean honey. If it makes you feel safer walking, then it's well worth it my love.
Theres nothing worse than feeling restricted, when you want to be able to go for a stroll, and feel unsafe in doing so, so enjoy your strolls, and get J a skate board so he can keep.
Oh no, now I have such funny visions, of the pair of you going through the park, with J trying to keep up with you how sad am I. :-D :-D :-D
And as for Snowdon, thats a brilliant idea for a holiday break....no not literally, but I can just see the write up in the papers " Lady seen climbing Snowdon, towing a gentleman behind her on a skate board"
Seriously though Jean, will you go to Wales again, or have a change of scenery ?
We are not having a holiday this year, yet again, finances wont allow it. In the middle of September, we have got two new radiators being installed, and a new gadget for the boiler (dont ask me what it is, coz I don't know lol ) so holidays are out the window again I'm afraid.
There has never been a radiator in our living room, only the gas fire, and we find that it makes us drowsy, so im indoors has decided new rads are what we need, and the gas fire removed. Oh boy, I am looking forwards to that like a pain in the neck, all the mess to clear up afterwards.
The men who are doing it, are really clean, but it means having to have the floor boards lifted, and carpets moved out of the way, for the job to be done properly.
So if anyone has a spare few hours, you know where to come.
It's a beautiful day today, the sun is shining, but thankfully it's not to hot.
Must go now my friends, speak to you later, love to all, Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

it seems that life might be settling down ................. a little bit anyway!!

I haven't managed to read back. Could someone update me on anything I have missed that is very important??

I hope everyone is doing well???

Our friend whose husband died in April is coming to stay for 1 night on Tuesday ............ then there is nothing on the calendar until Sept 29, when daughter and grandson arrive for a week.

I MIGHT get time to spend on here!

In addition to all the other things that have been going on ............ like visitors, holidays, etc ................... I've been going to the doctor's every 2 or 3 weeks. They want to replace one of my bp pills with another one, and that has to be done gradually.

Like Tec, I'm also having problems sleeping .................... the docs are checking that one out as well!

I seem to have a very low grade bladder infection (cystitis), which keeps flaring up. I can drink lots of water and get it under control, but then it returns if I cut back on the water. Nothing obvious is showing ................ but it means I have frequent trips during the night. A right old nuisance that is!!

We had a big thunderstorm on Thursday night, just as I was getting ready for bed. The storm was pretty close to here ............. one clap and flash seemed almost overhead!

The rain poured down, and we had a stream rushing down the street outside!

I think something like 40 mm of rain fell from Thursday lunch to Friday lunch

Now the sun and warm temperatures are back.

Summer ends for all Canadians and Americans on Monday ............. that's Labour Day. The next day, all schools, unis, etc, open, and summer is "over".

take care everyone

Mo in Kent Report 1 Sep 2013 19:22

Hello Sylvia, good to have you back.
Our Jean has been a bit poorly lately, but she seems to be getting her strength back now, thank goodness.

Ann is on holiday in Tenerife at the moment, lucky thing isn't she. It's their normal holiday for this time of year, and it appears they are enjoying good weather at the moment.
Both Ann and T have had problems with their knees and ankles, so I am hoping that this does not hold them back whilst they are away.

Sallie and Alun, have been to their sons for the bank holiday weekend, and have been back for a few days now.

Huia, lost her Modem, when she had a lightening strike close by,and we lost contact with her for a while, but she is now back on line. Of course she is still a busy bee, with all her pastimes.

Things here with Roly and myself, are the same as normal thank the lord.
We have got some really lovely weather here in Kent, at the moment.
Our clocks go back next month, and along with that comes the earlier darker nights, when we all close our curtains to shut the bad weather out.

I will say cheeio for now, take care, hugs, Mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 2 Sep 2013 22:01

Hi there.

My boot photo only got a merit but the fog photo got Highly Commended, as did one of my photos in the open section. The judge kept talking about photoshopping that other members had done, but I don't have photoshop and have no intention of getting it or using it. I like realistic photos.

My daughter phoned me 'early' this morning (7.30) and woke me. She had tried to get me most of yesterday (I was out) to tell me that her daughter had had her 2nd son at 11.17 yesterday, 6lb14oz, called Riley. It was a natural birth. Originally it was going to be a caesarean so the hospital could repair a hernia she got last time (and finished with a Caesar then). My daughter was unable to get the other gt grandmother on the phone either, so I am trying. I am a bit concerned as she doesn't go out a great deal. If I cant get her by the time my postie has been I will go in to Papakura to visit her and if she doesn't answer the door I will talk to her neighbour. Pity I don't know his name and phone number.

Mo in Kent Report 3 Sep 2013 16:10

Congratulations Huia, on the birth of your second great grandson.
A natural birth is wonderful, but unfortunately for your grandaughter, she now has to go back into hospital, for her hernia operation.
I hope you manage to rouse the other G.Grandma, it's such a worry not being able to contact her.
If she is anything like yourself, she's probably out shopping, or visiting friends.
I thought the fog photo was one of your best, no wonder it got highly commended, well done love.

I hope everyone is keeping well. Bye for now my friends, love to all, Mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 3 Sep 2013 21:37

Mo, the other gt grandmother doesn't go out much but I did get hold of her. She had probably been in the garden. There are photos of the baby on my FB page, taken by the mother. She went home the day after he was born, could have stayed another night but she wanted to be home. I just hope she is getting plenty of rest. At least her OH is on maternity leave (or should that be paternity) to help with the work and caring for the older boy.

Must go, I want to print off some of the photos for the other gt grandma and my printer just ignored me, so will get them done in town and go and visit Phil.

AnninGlos Report 3 Sep 2013 22:17

Congratulations Huia on the birth of your great grandson. Hope Mum and son do well. Well done on the commendation for the fog photo. I think it is time that they had. Special class for photos enhanced by photo shop away from those not enhanced. I look back with fondness on the days of non digital when photography relied on skill not the computer.

T' legs and my ankle are not too bad,new are still managing to walk but are a bit slower than we were.

Good to see you back Sylvia.

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Sep 2013 06:10

Hi Mo, and everyone

Huia ............. congratulations on your new gt grandson. Also, congratulations ot the happy parents.

the weather has turned quite nasty on us ................ huge storm late this (Thursday) afternoon and over dinner time ................ thunder, lightening, very heavy rain, etc. Just in time for rush hour

The forecasters seem to think we will be back to sun in a couple of days, with temps in the low 20s

I should be about back to normal soon ..................

we had a delightful visit Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning with our friend from the Island.

There isn't anyone else visiting, THAT WE KNOW OF, until daughter and grandson arrive on Sept 29 ........... and 2 other friends also arrive the next day to spend the night!

I mentioned thew "cystitis problem to the doc when I went to see him on Thursday last week. .......... I'm getting fed up with getting up every 1 or 2 hours through the night!

I had to give a sample .............. it looked clear to them, but they sent it for culture to make sure..

I got a phone call from the doc Tuesday afternoon, following on from that ................. I DO have a slight infection, which they ordinarily ignore "unless it is causing problems"

............... it is for me ............... so I'm on a 3 day (6 tablets) course of antibiotics.

Bloomin' HUGE tablets that I have to take morning and evening. I take the last one at breakfast on Friday morning

Then I keep my fingers crossed that it will have worked. I do see the doc again next Thursday about the change in bp pills.

Mo ................... Fans wants to know if yer bike is working for errands now :-D :-D

Take care everyone

Morning all, congrats to Huia, both for the new grand child and the photographing :-D

Sylvia I suffered from cystitus for years, and always drank or ate Cranberries wether I had it or not , and pleased to say I havent had that problem for a very long time so still taking the drink daily....

Well at long last I have now finished turning the craft room back to what it should be also managed to get all my craft leftovers in the drawers I bought .... next thing is make a card or two :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D, Jeff loves sitting listening to Mr Sinatra and singers of that era , so its turned out very well......

Its pouring down here and doesnt look as though it is going to stop :-(

hope everyone is doing o.k.
back later take care , love Jean xx <3

Sylvia, I went on google asking" why is Cranberry Juce good for you?"the replies are very useful, worth a look hope it helps...

Mo in Kent Report 6 Sep 2013 16:14

Sylvia, my bikes got a puncture, but the penny farthing's still working, and if she thinks I am getting my bum up on that saddle, after all this time, she's got another think coming. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
I hope the biotics work for you my love, cystitus can be very painful as well as a damned nuisance when you are trying to get a full nights sleep.
I hate it when the doctor decides to give us, what I call horse tablets....how the heck are we supposed to get the darned things down our throats. And nine out of ten times, they will stick half way down, and I end up nearly choking myself to death.
Theres you suffering from heavy rainfall etc, whereas we have had bad fog here. There was an almighty accident near to us yesterday, over 130 cars were involved, and that happened when it was very foggy.
The bridge it happened on is about five minutes away from us. I cannot for the life of me, understand why people speed in fog, and in that particular area it's a known fact that mist and fog can come down in no time.

Cooeee Jean. It is nice to hear from you my love. I bet the craft room is looking lovely. It must be if J is sitting there relaxing, and listening to his favourite crooners.
Just make sure you don't forget yourself, and put the rock and roll music that you love on, and expect poor J to get up and jive with you. You might have your pusher now, but it will get in the way when you dance. :-D :-D :-D
It's strange you saying about the Cranberries, because when I was at work, an elderly customer told me of an old wives remedy, it was to let a glass of coca cola go flat, and drink it. Goodness knows how many glasses you would need to drink though. lol

Cor luv a duck, I was really annoyed this morning. I put all the bedding out on the line before we went shopping, and yes you've guessed it, it chucked it down with rain whilst we were out. It came in wetter than it went out. boo hoo.

Got to go now girls, see you later, hugs to you all. Mo

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Sep 2013 16:34

Mo! Didn't you see the forecast :-D even here we knew you were going to get heavy rain. I have just come in because it is so hot out there.
That massive accident was horrendous wasn't it? According to reports people going too fast and driving too close, plus some without lights. A miracle nobody was killed.

Jean your revamped room sounds good. :-) <3

Hi Mo, and everyone

it is only "cloudy with possible showers" here today

Jean ................... I have drunk at least 2 4oz glasses of cranberry juice every day for many years. It's my drink of choice, other than water ........... especially when we go somewhere where everyone else is drinking alcohol. It's the very rare pub, bar, restaurant etc over here that does not have cranberry juice.

AnnG ...... glad to hear you are having soem hot weather

Mo .............. they showed that crash on our news, and I also looked at it online. It was horrific! Very surprising that no-one was killed ............ they were all darned lucky!!!

But, yes, it does beg the question of why people did not slow down!

take care eveyrone

Ann, when have we ever been able to rely on our weather forecasts lol It was so nice when I put the washing out.
I hope the heat is not getting to much for you, if it is, then send a little over here, you know how much we enjoy a little sunshine, but, you can keep the heat just send the sun.

Sylvia, I didn't realise that Fans had been so unwell, but at least she hasn't lost her sense of humour, she a tough bird, I wont say old coz she's not, she's a mere stripling isn't she.
Have you heard anything about the sale of your cabin yet?

We had a lovely surprise today, our daughter, 2 grandaughters and our great grandaughter came to see us.
Baby Zoey is eight months old today, crumbs how time flies by, she is such a little dear, and is trying so hard to walk. If you sit her on your lap she wriggles round till she is almost standing on your knees, and she's laughing all the time when she's trying to do it.

Time to go and watch strictly come dancing now, so see you later girls. Hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 13 Sep 2013 23:53

Hello girls, I had a job finding this thread, it was on page seven. Sorry not been on, having problems with this lappy since last week...it looks as though we'll have to buy a new one as this one is a good many years old.

I haven't read back yet so will as soon as I can. Hope you are all alright.

Sheila rang me about nine this morning to let me know about Joyce. Sending her lot's of positive thoughts and prayers for a good recovery......also thinking about Jan.

We were over in North Wales last weekend, visiting my cousin and her family, had a lovely time there.

Jennie and Michael have put their house up for sale, both of them would like to come back to Ilkeston to live, but goodness knows how long it will take them to sell it.

Hopefully I will speak to you over the weekend, if lappy will allow me.lol!!

Love to everyone, take care of yourselves.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh my goodness, how have we managed to slip so far down the pages.
It's good to hear from you Sallie. Lets hope and pray that Jennie and Michael get a quick sale on their house. But unfortunately, as you know yourselves house the housing market is at the moment, it's up and down so quickly.
If they are lucky, the first person to view it, will buy it....fingers crossed for them. I know how much it would mean to you my love.
What a shock to read of Joyces stroke, please lord let her get over it as quickly as possible.
I do hope her family are coming over to see her, and give her the support she gives them.
Jan will also need their support at this time, as it comes as such a shock when it is so unexpected like this.
Sallie and Jean, if you do hear from Jan, or the family, please send my regards to Joyce.

Thank goodness the rain has gone from here in Kent today. It's been so awful for the past few days.

Lucky Ann, will still be sunning herself in Tenerife, not getting webbed feet like we are back here in the U.K.

Sending love and hugs to Sylvia, Marie and Huia all across the water.

And now my lickle lovely, Jean. How are you and J doing now? I should imagine you have booked your break away by now...have you decided where you would like to go yet.?

I must go now my lovely cyber friends. Please take care of yourselves. Hugs to all, Mo xxx

Hi all quite humid here and 25 degrees. It was cloudy this morning but the sun is out now. We stopped to share a tuna toastie and a half litre of white wine and are now k*******d after walking up the hill in the heat.

Keep at it Jean you will soon get the card bug back you are too good to lose it.

Thinking of Joyce but a card will have to wait until we get home I think. <3

Good to hear from you in Tenerife Ann. Jealous yes, but pleased that you are enjoying yourselves.
Hill climbing is not a good idea, when you both have got knee and leg problems, but I dare say the half litre of wine gave you the bright idea that you could do it without any problems ;-) ;-) ;-) the minds willing, but the body has other ideas hasn't it.
You are lucky to be away from the U.K at the moment, the weather is atrocious, and when you get back, T will have a shock when he sees the garden, oh how the weeds are sprouting up, it's not a pretty sight. :-( :-( :-(

Jean what are you trying to do to poor Jeff, scaring the life out of him like that. A new car, wide screen t.v and new pots and pans, crumbs, the holiday wouldn't cost that much, have a heart honey.
I hope you had a good time with your G Grandson, they are sooo lovely arn't they.
I have been keeping updated re Joyce on Liz's thread, I just hope and pray that there is an improvement very soon.
Poor Jan must be pulling his hair out with worry.

Sending special (((((((((( <3 <3 <3 and HUGS for Joyce)))))))))

Mo, the littlie was a delight and he had such a good time shredding the newspaper, both him and grampy. :-D :-D :-D he played and laughed all the afternoon, he is now crawling to get to toys just out of his reach, He is to heavy for me to lift up too....
then he yelled his head off he was so tired, and D( his nan) gave him cuddles and he went to sleep.....

I finally managed to set up my craft table and did some die cutting nd embossed several perfumed cards, but its so hard to keep having to get up and find were i have put stuff in the drawers and boxes....made me realise how brilliant it was before ....everything to hand.so dont think I will be doing to many.

its pouring down here so I may go back in an decorate the cards or go and have lie down ;-) ;-) ;-)

good news about Joyce, too.. take care one and all love Jean xxx <3
