Jean (Monmouth) Report 21 Aug 2009 19:31

when I was ateenager and still at school, I had a classmate who lived on the Romney Marsh and we used to go'looking' for sheep for the farmers. They tended to get stuck in the dykes and had to be helped out. Dont suppose there are many sheep around there now.

Liz it's a long time since i was there , but when I lived in kent we went on holiday to Guestling a little village between Hastings and Rye, lovely scenery there , and Rye is a 'special' place, something about it was just 'home'. I can't imagine it has changed that much :))

Jean, you are so wrong, the Romney Marsh is still sheep rearing country. The Romney Marsh breed are world famous, there are still thousands of them in the fields. The marsh grows great potatoes too.

Rose, Rye hasn't changed much, still lovely and quaint.

Helen, I think I will definitely try to get your way next Spring, it would be nice to see the places when the days are longer and brighter and it all sounds so lovely. I haven't even had a reply about the property in Dungeness and I sent off the email through the letting site, several days ago. Makes you wonder if the people really want to rent the places out, what with the extortionate costs and then not responding. I will arrange a minimeet if I do come along and make sure I pick some time when you folk aren't gadding off anywhere lol

Thanks for all the input, it's been very interesting and has made me want to see the places for myself.

~~to Rose and all.

Well yet another day that he didn't sit down and sort anything out with me, wanted to do it when I was busy doing other things that couldn't be left, and yet had spent all afternoon in the city wandering aimlessly trying to find a shop that sold the deckshoes he likes to wear most of the time. He said he couldn't find the shop he usually gets them from yet he spent quite a while on that street and opposite the shop too when he went into the new shopping mall. Dozy idiot!
Four weeks today we should be on holiday, huh!
If we end up at the original place booked because of his dithering and prevaricating I will be so annoyed and he will rue the day....... I will definitely go on strike so he has to take me out to eat every day lol

Is there not a ammunition ship that is sunk off Dungeness?
rumour has it that sooner or later its going to disappear in a big bang, taking much of the shoreline with it?

Bob
That's rather worrying considering there's a nuclear power station at Dungeness !
I've not heard of that and I'm not that far away.

Bob,
you are thinking of the ammunition ship from WW2 which was sunk just of Sheernes, its on the Isle of Sheppey in north Kent.

Still there, still dangerous. If you are in Sheerness you pray if you are religious and cross your fingers if you are not !!!
