hi Karen thats my view i dont think they have done enough research on it as to side effect,s etc think they just rushed it through as every body was in a panic. msc

AnninGlos Report 27 Aug 2009 17:13

The worrying thing for me is that so many doctors say they wont have it because it has not been tested enough. Not sure whether I will have it or not. Do have the ordinary flu jab though.

Our surgery is not offering the swine flu jab. Think the whole thing is blown out of proportion for the drug companies benefit. Not enough research. I have heart trouble and am diabetic plus other things, but will only have the regular flu jab.

I shall have it.... I am in remission from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, which has a 70% chance of relapsing in the first couple of years after treatment.... my immune system is still a bit precarious, and I may need a bone marrow transplant...... I am not taking any chances, lol

My Daughter had been really unwell, she had the usal Cough, snotty nose, high tep, headache ,legs aching. Took her to the doctors thought he'll say swine flu ,no he tells me she has some kind of viru,s.No mention of flu.
I came home after picking up a leaflet at the surgery for swine flu info.So thought i would just see what that says, filled in my daughters symptoms etc and recieved a code for us to collect the Tamiflu drug for her (which i did not give her),so i presumed the on line service decided she'd had swine flu.Well if it was it was mild 3 nights and days of hight temp, lots of calpol, and T.L.c shes just now left with a nasty cough but lots better. So no i would not or my kids have the flu injection.

Dianne Report 13 Oct 2009 15:46

If I had had the chance of the jab I would have taken it. I didn't get the chance and now I have spent the last 3 weeks with swine flu which has now turned to pneumonia.

Needless to say my family will be having it as soon as they can.

Lorraine Report 13 Oct 2009 16:26

we were offered them at work as I work for children social services everyone in my dept said no, they have not had a long enough clinical trial and from what i can see its only people with underlying health issues who are badly effected I'll take my chances thanks.

Annx Report 13 Oct 2009 22:32

I really don't know. I've had pneumonia twice as a child and got bad chest infections till I had ordinary flu jabs. I have also had the pneumonia innoculation now so that should help too.

Hope you are soon feeling better Dianne. You will feel tired and run down for a while after so take good care of yourself and don't overdo it.

I missed out on my ordinary flu jab last year I think, and am due to have that soon as well as being eligible for the swine flu due to being classed as asthmatic, but I am not sure I will have the swine flu jab. It isn't just people with underlying illnesses that are dying from swine flu tho, some normally healthy folk are succumbing too. Think I will take my chance tho.
