Hi Ann
I am here Thanks.
Does this mean that I have to read TWO books in a month ?
That means I won't have time for GR and I may have to get a stash of chocolate digestives in !!!!!!!!
I'll try my best
Bets wishes to everyone

No problem with Antony & Cleopatra, but I'm having trouble locating both Bloodline and Shores of Darkness, so I'll start on the first one and keep trying for the others.

Do your best Berona, If you can't get any of them try Bridges of Madison Country, that is a wonderful book in my opinion. (& I didn't suggest it).

Joan, thought you said you wouldn't have time. Do try and read at least one with us, we'd love to have you join us.

Joan

Read Bridges of Madison County (doesn't take long and you will probably only get through half a packet of chocolate digestives)

I get a bit lost in some of Colleen McCulloughs they are a bit epic and have a long list of Characters.

I will have a go at Bloodline though.

I have bloodline on my shelf, it is not a very ;large book and looks interesting. I* know it is not the book for this time's reading but Bridges is a lovely book, romantic without being sloppy, sad without being maudling a worthwhile read if anyone wants a book on top of those we have suggested.

Be aware if searching your libraries on line that Antony has no 'H'. My first search didn't find it anywhere in Gloucester but the second did, sadly not at my local library though. I had not realised that she appears to have originally written this in 1937 but it has been republished

Changed title to draw attention to the previous post re Antony not Anthony.

Persephone Report 9 Sep 2009 08:10

I used to own a second hand book shop in the nineties when Bridges came out - and a lot of people thought it was a true story - they would turn up looking for the National Geographic Magazine with it in. Of course it was never done by National Georgaphic, but one day someone brought in a couple of Country Music Mags and in one of them was pictures of the covered Bridges. I photo- copied it and gave away copies to all those that asked and have kept the magazine.

The book has another title which escapes me at the moment - will have to have a hunt through my shelves.

Persephone, there is a sequel, Slow Waltz in Caesar Bend.

I love the covered bridges and when we went to America was so pleased to see a couple, can't remember where now though as we went to quite a few states at different times.
