There's a Sparrow as early as 1838
......and even a Sparrow Sparrow later on.......

I knew a girl, her surname was Wood, who wanted to call her daughter Scarlett. Lovely name agreed but we pointed out that as she got older she would inevitably be known as REDWOOD

For years boys ( and girls come to that) have been called Robin/Robyn- why is Sparrow so different?

The unkindest one was a girl i went to school with, the 4th in a line of sisters. Her name was Peta, ( pronounced Peter) I guess they wanted a son
