The whiskerey old librarian pulled back Queenie from the edge of paranoia

"Beware the lure of bright lights and easy money" he said (as he scooped up her winnings into his back pocket)

Conscience on Queenie's right shoulder lost out to temptation on her left, and the coin slid, almost of its own accord, into the slot of the dusty, winking machine.

The lights on the machine went into overdrive, strange electronic music played, a small crowd gathered, and ....

Listened to her old friend and knew she could buy a book in the second hand shop or an hours internet time, both would be better use of her coin, but still the dusty old machine in the corner drew her with it's winking lights.

...When she felt a firm hand on her right shoulder. Turning, she came face to face with the wrinkled old librarian who had for many years been her only confidante.

"A fool and her money are easy parted" said the whiskered one in friendly tones.

Queenie found she wasn't interested in the internet cafe after all. She continues skipping down the street and came upon an amusement arcade. Inside were the most wonderful machines that would light up and make wondrous noises. Queenie realised she needed a coin to make the machines works. She put her hand in her pocket.........

Anyway day after day whilst Mrs King was internet shopping and Dad King was on adults only sites, Queenie legged it down to the internet cafe.

The daylight did wonders for her, the squint disappeared and the frown softened, no more did she need to read by torch light. Queenie had found a new world
