Just learnt that smacking the washing machine hard with a broom doesn't mend it.....in fact it makes it pack up completely.

Hey ho......it's been on the way out for months but I feel loads better for giving it a good hiding LOL x

Wow..........that takes me back to when I was about 14 and I lost my temper with our clapped out old twin tub..........I stoved the top of it ( the spinner bit ) in with the heavy old washing stick.............then marched into my Dad and told him he would HAVE to get a new one now !!..................lol

He just wandered out and bloomin' well mended it ( after a fashion ) from that day until it finally gave up the ghost you had to lay across the spinner lid to keep it shut...............lol

I hope your back has withstood the assault on your washing machine Muffy.................lol

Muffyxx Report 13 Oct 2009 21:18

It's waaaaaaaay past mending Granny......was when I paid £60 last year to get it semi repaired....and that was before I stupidly used Cillit Bang on it to clean it and managed to take off all the writing on it LOLOL (did it to the cooker too when I was having a manic cleaning day !!!) pmsl

LOL If OH hadn't seen me do it I'd have done the same Amanda !!!

Back is ok ish ta........it's all in my leg now but ranges from mild ache to cramp......so is tolerable now xx

Naughty machine!!!!!!

Dont know if you are aware but comet have an auction site online for their display stuff. When my machine packed up about three years ago it was really bad timing and I didnt want anything less than a Bosch but didnt have the readys - Im a buy with what you got in the bank kind of person.

Anyway I found the site and got what was back then a £500.00 machine for just over £200.00 at online auction.

The machine had a dent in the left side panel, but fits into a slot so no one would see (also OH took side off banged it other way and then dent popped out). Downside was the wait I think it was about a month before delivery but if your looking to save a few pennies its worth a look they do all sorts of makes just check what the damge is it usually describes it. My machine 3 years on is going fine :) Oh and came with a 2 year cover but I think thats standard with Bosch.

Amanda2003 Report 13 Oct 2009 22:00

Maddiecow.............I'm with you on the Bosch..........I'm on my second one but the first we had new brushes fitted and handed on to eldst daughter. They are simply the best washing machines around ( in my opinion ).

Hiya Maddie.

I tried that auction site with the oven a couple of years back....but what they sent me bore no resemblance to the description on the site....was so dented and damaged it didn't even work lol.....I AM tempted to try again though as in theory it's a great idea........My washing machine lives in the garage so dents and scratches make no odds at all to me.!!

Going to try Currys tomorrow to see if they have a *managers special* with dinks and donks on it .........bet they don't lol

I won't pay good money for a washing machine.......it's used to death........3-4 wash cycles a day what with kids and dogs........where everyone elses machines seem to last 6 yrs mine only seem to last for 3 lol xx

Maddiecow

Maddiecow Report 13 Oct 2009 22:06

If your not looking for a brand have you a Tescos Home by you? I was in there at the weekend and they had managers specials to take away for I think £106.00!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 13 Oct 2009 22:07

Blimey !!!!! I've struggled to find anything under £200

I'll certainly give that a look ........ta xx

Maddiecow Report 13 Oct 2009 22:11

I cant vouch for the quality mind, but am considering buying one of their small chest freezers, just dont know where I can fit one.

Maddiecow

Maddiecow Report 13 Oct 2009 22:13

I am not certain but I think it was one of these

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-6072.aspx

Tescos home are the outlet places that dont sell food and get rid of surplace stock. I know the one in Bristol but dont know where else they are.

Ive bought lots of things far less than the direct prices. But its a case of when its there its there.

Muffyxx Report 13 Oct 2009 22:13

My cousin bought me a super dooper all singing all dancing machine as a wedding pressie and it lasted no longer than the £200 jobs I've been buying since lol.

mostly it's just used to freshen up worn clothes.......maybe twice a week I use the pre wash cycle for whites....don't use or need anything else xx

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 13 Oct 2009 22:14
