Earth i find my hair has gone more ginger as I get older anyway lol,

Barbra the conditioner with this one smells nice, my son just sniffed my hair and said it smells exactly like the lady at his kick boxing lol :)

Liz this seems to have done ok...the wispy bits by my ears are still lighter than the rest but not noticeably white :)

Joy, I have flirted with the idea of going blonde a few times....but would want a proffessional to do it ...and I'm tight ;)

xx

Rose! - "its golden brown which is my natural colour , it is mainly the white at my temples that I have to cover" - we *are* twins!

For the last year I've been doing mine fairly regularly, although not religiously. Like, 3 times in the year, and my hair grows fast, so I've had some grey temples in the interims. Just did it again day before yesterday. I don't know from brands, but I think it's niceneasy. Says to leave it 30 minutes on grey for touchups, then 10 minutes more for the rest. I did 45 and 10. It came out a little darker than the other times, but it's fine.

Had those grey temples since I was 21. Back then I had very long golden brown hair. I was standing at a bus stop with a woman I worked with, a little shorty who also had long brown hair. I guess her lack of height gave her a good vantage point, and the wind must have been blowing -- she suddenly pointed at the side of my face and said WHAT'S THAT? I started smacking at my head, thinking I must have spiders or something. No, just grey hair ...

It was kind of fun in my 20s. Not so much anymore!

lol Janey, my friend L spotted my first white hair when I was 27 , ...I swear caused by a traumatic love affair lol ...it is has progressed quite slowly and one day I shall stop the dyeing and let it go like my mum's hair hopefully...which had soft streaks that money really couldn't buy :)

I do use nice n easy and like you about 35/45 minutes does a good cover up :)

I found my first grey on my 38th birthday.......and the blighters are multiplying like crazy.......tried permanent colour but don't like it......will dabble soon with the semi permanents just to cover them. I'm only just getting away with it au naturel but I won't for much longer !! xx

JaneyCanuck Report 17 Oct 2009 21:02

What happens, you see, Muffy, is that eventually you get enough of the blighters that you no longer really give a crap what colour it comes out, as long as the white blighters are whatever colour it is!

Oh you've done it. I was going to suggest that you do the temples first, as they are the worst area, then do the rest. That way, you give the greyest bits a bit longer to take :-)

Janey, agree with you there. I got my first grey at 28, and now got quite a lot at the temples. If I was a man, I'd look 'distinguished' Hummpphhh.

I usually use a colour close to my natural colour, I can get away with that.

Muffy, you've got dark hair, there's some lovely permanent colours that would suit your own colour. We'll have to shop for some when we next meet up...

Brill ta hon.

I often *browse* the semi permanents but for some reason my take on my natural colour isn't everyone elses ......hence the colour nightmares I've had since my 38th birthday !!!

I seem to think my hair is actually darker than it is :0(

Did anyone see the pics of Victoria Beckham going a bit grey around her temples?

not a clue what colour my tresses really are - but I bet they're not the "sunkissed blond" my hairdresser turns them into!

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 18 Oct 2009 05:02

Rose, Janey and others, I too have those very light areas by my temples and they seem to grow faster than the rest of my hair lol so show more quickly. I had my first grey hair at 16, someone kindly pointed it out at school! I know my mother went grey early and so did my brothers.

I have coloured my hair since I was about 18, most of the time a variation on the very dark brown with lots of dark auburn in that is my natural colour. My son's hair is just like mine was and in sunlight the red really shows up. I have used permanent colours, henna and all sorts but went grey too much too early to use those lovely plums and purples that are around now. I only started using blonde colourant when after a holiday to Malta, my previously dyed midbrown hair went blonde in the sun. People said it suited me so I cut out the middleman and did it blonde myself. The back lower down is still darker than the rest tho so always have two tone hair lol I always knew when it was time to do it again when I worked at a school. If when bending down to tie a child's shoe lace or something they asked what the sparkly bits were in my hair, then I went to the shop to get more dye that afternoon lol

There is a colourant you can get to just cover the regrowth til it is enough to dye properly but I haven't tried it, might work on those grey wings tho.
