member of GR?

Is it your tree? Is it to use the boards? etc etc

I'm waiting for a flood of connections}but the waiting time comes with lots of attractions.....:}}}}

It was to do my tree originally, but that mostly done elsewhere now, I stayed for the friends and conversation on the boards. Living alone ( only adult) it was nice to have a chat and laugh at the end of the day , and in breaks in between 'real life'.

And I like to think I have helped a few newbies with look ups as I was helped when I joined , that is the really good thing about GR, the wealth of experience of its members.

My main reason was my tree, and still is.

To me the boards are a welcome extra where Ive made new friends and ive had support at times Ive really needed it.

Thats why I still use GR even though Ive not got much further in recent months with my tree.

i joined trying to find my dads half brother and sister for him
still looking but had no luck a lot have tried to help which i am really grateful for but still nothing wont give up though
have managed to piece a few bits of his life together for him which is something he never had
now i just enjoy helping others and reading the boards

I came on to make family connections and I'm still doing that. I stay because of the friends I've made.

I didnt use the boards at all then
But when I did I found a lot of new friends on here

I joined to find my mother and half-siblings. I've given up on my tree yet in the meantime have found one sister, met my fiance and made so many lovely friends.

Wot Mo said. It's the same for me. I started to do my tree, plucked up courage to post on the boards and gained a lot of like-minded friends, who will be friends for life.

I think it is for my family tree......but at the moment, I suppose it is chat.

Originally I joined for help with my tree, still find I am getting new family contacts and still doing my tree, although mostly elsewhere, but found the boards after a few months, made some good cyber friends and some who I have met. having moved around a lot and left friends all over the place and not got many here it is good to have somebody to chat to and have a laugh with.

I was just looking for info on my B Mother,and discovered I was 1 of 8 children lol.In touch with 2 brothers and a cousin now.Plus many new pals on the boards .

I joined to do my tree and to try and find some living relatives.....I failed miserably. lol

I joined GR to do my tree .which i'm still doing .
I do occasionally post but mostly just read
the boards

Joined over 6 yrs. ago to do my tree, then saw the boards, but found everyone was so quick witted that I just watch what is kicking off, find it quite amusing.

Exactly what I mean Old Geezer quick whitted. I will still sit on the bench and watch.!!

The main reason: family history research.

I come here for the vast selection of intellectual subjects that are readily available for discussion and debate : ))

And to watch in horrified awe ( ? ) as mad people slog out there differences over and over again...................LOL
