I know this seems a strange question but do you suffer from travel sickness?

Try them a little longer, but be careful on stairs and kerbs, if you can't feel comfy in them soon, go back and get checked out, they might not be correctly aligned.

I had no problem with my first pair and have worn them for several years now

Sometimes a pain if I have to look at something low down, would need to lie on the floor to see what I was looking at lol

Good luck, they aren't cheap are they?

You will get used to them. As Liz says watch out for going down stairs etc.
I've had mine for about 4 yr now and I still have to put my head down when going down steps.
I find, if the steps have lines on them, it's worse.
Turning round to reverse the car is a bit funny too. It's a good excuse if your reversing is rubbish lol.

Shhhh Mac dont tell everybody ;~)

Ladykira,i'm Fine if traveling in the front of a car but not very good in the back,
but i do suffer from tinnitus !

Hi Purple,I'm trying not to look at my feet when walking about, and your right about the price, the more you pay for your lens the less blurring you get at the sides,I think if I'd gone for the best lens would of been £150 + the cost of the frames.

Blue Moon

Blue Moon Report 15 Dec 2009 14:13

Marion, my husband had his first pair about a month ago and he's not had any problems at all getting uesd to his,
I can see me falling up or down the stairs and ending up black and blue....lol

MarionfromScotland Report 15 Dec 2009 14:18

You will get used to them. My OH has them too, he didnt like them at the start He has got used to them now.He has to take them off for close up things though...plain glass along bottom.

Have you got them sitting properly on your nose? Strange question but if they are not fitted correctly it throws the vision out. I have had varifocals for more than20 years now, probably 30 although they may have been called something different., never had bifocals. Wear then for a short while at a time at first but if you still have a problem. I once had a pair I just could not get used to, when I went back they had put the lenses the wrong way round.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Dec 2009 15:24

It might be best not to wear them in the evening or when you are tired for a bit. The advice I was given was to get use to them slowly and not to drive with them unitl confident. Obviously, if you are still having side effects after a week of trying, you need to go back to the optician.

Mine were fine, although I can't rake soil flat...it tends to look banana shape! Sister in Law gave up and reverted to single lens glasses.

Blue Moon Report 15 Dec 2009 15:48

Ann, they've been up and down my nose like a yo-yo,I get them just right to see the computer and I loose everything else,I look like somebody gone mad following an imaginary fly around the room....lol

DET,I did try them once before it must have been about 8 years ago,my key board at work kept moving when I was trying to type and the aisle's in the shop were moving in and out when I was walking down them,it was all very strange ( usually have to have a few drinks before that happens ...lol) but I am now getting fed up of changing my glasses every time I want to read /drive or use the computer so I need to get used to these vairfocals.

Off shopping now, this could be fun :~)

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 15 Dec 2009 16:36

got used to mine immediately - never ever had a problem with them

you can't slouch when watching TV though!!!

MarionfromScotland

MarionfromScotland Report 15 Dec 2009 16:41

Remember you dont need to move your glasses or your head all the time...just your eyes...ie look up and down without moving your head.

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 15 Dec 2009 18:16

OK
For some people travel sickness could be a contra-indication especially with the travel sickness. Try for a week then go back to your optician if it does not improve. I cannot speak for them but we have would make you up a new pair as a bifocal or seperate pairs. Bifocal is not good for the computer though so maybe an occupational lens would be better.
It could also be an adjustment or height problem. (when they measure the distance from the centre of your pupil to the bottom of the frame.)

Blue Moon Report 15 Dec 2009 19:10

Thank you everyone for your advice,I really need to get use to them its to inconvenient carrying two pairs of glasses around with me,
I've just been shopping and ended up putting my old ones back on,everything was wobbling in and out as i walked down the aisles it was like being drunk,
I will persevere with them for at least another week then if no better i will go back to the opticiansas Ladykira suggest

Thanks again.

In the mean time If I come on and tell you I've fell over you know its the fault of the glasses and nothing to do with the Christmas party's ;o))

Hi Fay
its time you went back to the opticians and got them sorted, you shouldn't be having problems with them now if they are the right prescription and they were fitted properly
hope they get them sorted

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Dec 2009 15:21

You really should take them back and get them checked. I told you I think that once I was given new glasses with the lenses swopped over (i.e. left where right should be etc.) That was S*********s
