Anyone like me when midnight arrives i always feel really sad and want to cry ,

Pam

I watched this and saw that several of you were going to be alone so on the chance i phoned a friend who had said she was going to her sons but had changed her mind so got a large take away and a bottle of wine and we sat chatting while OH watched a load of rubbish repeats on tv raised our glasses at midnight and it was nice so to every one of you HAPPY NEW YEAR and may all your hopes and dreams come true in 2010.

My dream for this year is for my darling 49 year old sister to continue to fight the cancer that has no cure and for the wonderful doctors at Llandough Hospital Cardiff to continue to help her all they can .

Take care all of you

Pam, I can empathise with you. Christmas passes me by - the kids enjoy it and that's fine.

New Year always makes me somewhat tearful - maybe it's again, leaving the past behind and hoping that next year will be better.

I always feel sad on New Year I think about all my loved ones that are no longer with me......I always feel when it strikes midnight that I have left something behind and I can't go back and get it.

And we can still feel "alone" in a group of friends. I always feel weepy at this time, and DET's right, there probably are more people at home, alone or otherwise, but hey, here we are talking to one another, these boards show how many of us aren't out living it up, we're talking to each other.

What I'm really trying to say I suppose, in this cackhanded way of mine, is thank you to everyone on here, we can talk, laugh, cry or whatever but there's always someone around to share things with.

May you all have a peaceful and contented New Year

Its the first time I'm on my own this new year since my husband died 14 years ago. I normally go down to my mums but did not feel to well, just as well cos my daughter is on night shift and her dog would have been here alone and there is a lot of fireworks going off.

Hi Polly and Linda

I'm here, kind of watching Hugh Grant, trying to pacify the dog now the fireworks have started, although he's being pretty good at the moment, Hugh's about to propose to Martine McCutchthingy in Love Actually, oh it's my dog I'm trying to keep calm, Hugh Grant hasn't got a dog as far as I know and can anyone tell me what I'm on about please
