Anyone else having problems in logging on tonight? It's taken ages for me to log in, and it's pretty slow aswell. Nothing showing on help though.

There appears to be a general server problem with BT tonight. Although your general connection should be fine, there may be problems logging into your personalised pages.

Dont say that, gem.... am being changed over to bt broadband tomorrow, coz have had nowt but probs with telewest/virgin... Arrgggghhhhh!!!! Clare x

Clare, rest assured. It is extremely rare for there to be problems with BT broadband. This current one is not affecting general internet access but merely access to 'log-in' pages such as the BT personalised home page.

Thanks Errol. Was beginning to think it was my computer. It is connecting, but couldn't log in, it kept saying password invalid. Took ages trying to get in, finally got in through the help pages. Clare It's not normally too bad. Not had too many problems with BT. Service normally really good. Gem:)))

Phew, thanx for reassuring me... was beginning to worry then!! Clare x

It is a lot better than many, Maureen, and if you persevere or use a different number (bit difficult to find at first) it is quite easy to get through to a UK based technical department. However, the times you will need to use the technical department or helpdesk should be few and far between. The problem occurs when it is the PERSONALISED services rather than the general connection. After all, most ISPs are actually using BT lines anyway!

Errol - l'm Bt and have had probs on and off for a few weeks - l actually can't get on the net at all sometimes - sometimes it tells me l dont have my modem installed properly - yet l have had it checked out about 6 - 8 weeks ago. also when l'm connected it keeps freezing grrrrrrrrrrrr jude :o(((

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 10 May 2007 22:12

Jude, that sounds like a problem localised to your computer and/or network rather than an actual BT connection problem.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 10 May 2007 22:23

For starters I would upgrade your modem drivers to see if that makes a difference.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 10 May 2007 22:26

no it is free - give me the make, name and exact model number of your modem and I'll find the drivers for you

Unknown Report 10 May 2007 22:28

Hi Gem Sorry to hi jack your thread but when i saw your name I thought I would just say LEEDS cannot believe what has happened this year after last years play off, can you Liz

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 10 May 2007 22:29

Honestly, it is free! When you acquire or purchase a modem you are entitled to driver upgrades - drivers are the little bits of software that run hardware such as modems, printers etc. Manufacturers often upgrade the drivers because they find bugs in the existing software so it is in their best interests to provide this service free so that everyone has equipment that is running correctly. If you can tell me the model etc I can give you the link to download the most up to date driver for your modem. That at least will be a starting point for you.
