My Dad is moving into Abbeyfield in 4 - 6 weeks and he is delighted. We only started looking in February so not bad for 4 months, but it has been very stressful at times. Thank you to everyone who answered me for your help and support. Kindest Regards Jill |

So pleased for you Gill. Its not that sheltered housing take so long and i know it sounds awful, but you have to wait for someone to go into a nursing home or they die. There is also a waiting list and priority always comes first and its not always the person on top of the list.I bet dad is smiling as well. thats good news. I hope the move goes ok and he settles well. We are still waiting for mum to sell her bungalow. SHe is getting a trickle of viewers now so fingers crossed that somebody wants to buy it. She wont hear of anything other than her own place. Although she has now heard that she may be able to get some sort of help with meals. She sometimes buys the frozen ready meals delivered and I asked her if her council do what we used to call meals on wheels. At first she threw that idea straight out of the window but she must have pondered over it and said she would look into it before the winter.. My brother also has an estate agent visiting today to advise him on selling so hopefuly he will be moving nearer soon which will help a lot. |

Hi Gwyneth, Linda, Annie, Sue and Liz Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes. My Dad is so excited he can't stop talking about it. He is very isolated where he is not by Property but by being disabled and not being able to get out easily. He is going to do so much more so he says I think just having company will be enough to start with. When we went to talk to the People in Abbeyfield on Monday one Man whose room we went into had a computer, Dad said he's going to ask him to show it to him and is thinking of getting one himself. We have suggested this to him before, but he wouldn't think about it, seeing someone else with one has made him realise he can do it too I suppose. My Children will be on hand to help him out and I can too of course. Anyway thank you once again. Kindest Regards Jill |

Hi Little Lost Cousin I hope the bungalow is sold soon and everything runs smoothly. I have to sell my Dads house yet I am not looking forward to it. Dad wants to put it on the market now, but I want to wait and de clutter it of all the photo's and personal bits and bobs first. Good luck with getting Meals On Wheels for your Mum and lets hope your Brother sells up and moves soon too it will be good for your Mother to have him around and it will be support for you. Kindest Regards Jill |

if you do sell your dads house what tehn happens to the money. Not being nosey.lol But do you then have to pay for his housing costs of where he is moving to? |

My Dad is funding himself with his move to Abbeyfield. The money from the house sale will be invested for him. I work for an Independant Financial Advisor so he will advise us on the best place for Dads money. Kindest Regards Jill |

Fingers crossed and positive vibes please as things are looking good... Mum hs had an offer for her bungalow which she has accepted but it is lower than we hoped so I have had the task of finding her a place within her price range. Found only one that I think would be suitable but it was priced higher so I asked if they would accept an offer and they said yes. WOOHOO So now I am taking mum to have a look today so hopefully it will all fall into place. If not then I am stumped again. |
