Lou sending all the best to your Mum, yes she will get something but unfortunately there still is possesion is 9/10ths law can't she kick him out? calling the police ofcourse If she leaves the house is in his care he can be made to sell........eventually. She must lodge all fears with the police and as soon as poss take out an injuction against him. Also as suggested talk to samaritans or a womans refuge there are safe houses available. Most of all now she has made this decision KEEP HER STRONG (sos for shouting) she will need loads of support and positive thoughts. sorry for being long winded but it is important for her well being pm me if needed Jacqui |

I have been through DV first hand... Your mum is a very brave person and it takes a lot of courage to leave. There is support out there tell your mum to contact the national womens aid.. their number can be found online... they are excellent for advice, and also for help and support. Best wishes to you and your mum. Julie x P/S I also meant to say that Womens aid can also put you intouch with solicitors and will also accompany you if you need them to, they have an advocacy service. |

Mum is still being strong, very strong actually. She sounds like the mum i used to know, one that didnt take any crap from anyone.. I didnt realise how many people on here had been, or still are affected by domestic violence. My heart goes out to you all... It has taken mum 22 years to build her confidence back up and gain the strength to walk away, please, if you are in this situation, dont ever give up...xxx SO...I went home with mum last night, and waited outside. I told her i would be there if she needed me to rush in quick. He hubby is so unpredictable, she could have been locked out completely, battered the moment she walked in the door, it was tense to say the least...I waited, listening for any sign of a struggle, but heard none.. Eventually, standing in the rain for twenty minutes i decided to 'pop in' pretending i had just arrived.. HE was sitting on the sofa and greated me warmly!!?? Mum was upstairs getting changed so i went up and she said he had greated her with a hearty ''Good evening darling!'' as she'd entered the house. I stayed there til late last night, he was subdued and seemed somehow in denial....A HUGE difference to the reaction she'd had that morning!!! I havnt spoken to mum today, but will ring her on her lunch break shortly... I dont know if 'HE' is in denial, or is planning something, only time will tell..Or is it just that now he has lost his hold on her he has no power?? When a bully looses the ability to strike fear into the heart of its victims it looses it's power.. Maybe now he knows she isnt affraid of defending herself he has given up??? Who knows! I want to say a massive thankyou to all who have sent PMs and posted here and offer my support to anyone in mums situation..I will answer Pms when i have more time, i'm just having a trauma with my little one today (it never stops, lol) Thankyou again... As you can see, if you look at my Anniversary Thread I say I am on my 2nd marriage & have found a good 1 this time. Over 30yrs ago I was married to a drunken Bully; he too had a split personality. (A loving husband & Father & an abusive monster.) I finally left him when I felt that it was not just me in the firing line. He punched me in the face whilst I had our 2yr old daughter on my lap. Please help your Mum get legal advice as soon as possible & tell her to make sure she sleeps in a separate room. (I do not know the up-to-date laws) Your little one is probably picking up on your mood. Big hugs to you & your Mum. Carol P |

Good for you Carol, you have my admiration! Yes, unfortunatly kids are often caught in the fireing line, my two sisters and i were, and even that didnt give mum the will to leave, he has had such a strong hold over her. Just spoken to her, she slept in the spare room, as he got a little verbal last night.. Wondering if this is the calm before the storm? At least this time she is more able to defend herself...! Oh, i worded that a bit bad 'having a trauma with my daughter' - i ment she's having trouble with her ears again, she was sent home from school as her hearing completely went - again- and i had to rush her to docs..On my way to her school now to discuss a classroom assistant for her...It nevers rains - it poors...
