Official, unbiased, independant, and ANONYMOUS, very difficult, I should think to get all those parameters together,, and you would then get the '' They took out MY thread, Why not His/Hers'' comments. but most things CAN be made to happen.. Bob |

I'm a mod elsewhere (I wouldn't want to be one here, so this isn't a pitch for the job). It isn't that easy and I'm sure we don't always get it right but we try to talk to at least one other mod before deleting a thread or message. Some are easy, if the rules are broken they go. Others are more difficult but we err on the side of caution and trust that the members know that we are trying to do our best, even if we don't always get it right. We have an advantage over GR in that we have IP addresses so multiple membership isn't possible. Gwynne |

Yes, it should be given to members on a randon basis, ''are you prepared to be a mod this week??'' they should then be able add some sort of hidden note to the thread for a GR mod to impartially examine and then action or not - That is actually what is suposee to happen now - by mailing abuse sadly the the GR bod has other responsibilties. It just need ONE person at their end.Until now i guess they haven't felt the need to appoint someone |

All this site needs is members to follow the rules. NO LIVING RELATIVES PUT ON THIS SITE WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And common sense to remove them when asked to. If you do not follow the rules I say BAN them. Sorry but thats my opinion. |

Yes - from what I've seen on GR so far they're definately needed. ALL bingo sites have them in the chat rooms and it works well. Mary |

I agree with David, People say who decides what happens on the site, The site owners of course, stick by their rules and you will be OK. Thats what other sites are doing so why not here. |

The moderator question has been suggested to GR many, many times during the past few months and as far as I can see has been totally ignored by them. They have given you a Board - and now it is up to You to decide how it is run. GR have given their Terms and Conditions and you will see that we are all moderators and that is how it appears GR wish it to stay. As this question is purely to satisfy your curiousity then I would say Yes but if the intention is to approach GR on the subject ...... Dream on ! As for the job being given to a non-member you are talking about paying somebody - and I guess that GR are not that willing to part with funds for as has been said it is not a question of ONE person but several 24/7 and that surely must be a No-No. Also remember that it is not just this Board but all the others too. |

Hi Lesley :):) Yes I would like to see independent moderation on the boards. I feel independent moderation is necessary at this time to bring stability back to the site. Even if this was to allow time to recouperate the sites expected standards. It is true that one person could never manage to work 24/7 and also that more than one person would be needed to avoid any bias. Independent would mean that those persons would be unable to be a part of the take part membership of the site. In terms of how it could be funded in the first place, Genes are losing money on a day to day basis. If 500 people walk out at anyone time and not return then that would in effect pay part of the cost towards the funding. If the site continues to spiral and gains a bad reputation then the overall losses would I imagine be a whole lot more. Once the stabilty has returned then another re think could possibly me made. Colin. Not about much today I am afraid. |
