the 24 hour clock, i just cant get the 20 or 22 00 hours thing i just have to check on a proper clock

Afraid I'm ex military, so had to get used to it quickly!

i made appointment over phone with someone today who i know is an ex squaddie, for next week(its ok its buisness) he said 3pm next monday i said yeh that great, he then said as hes obviously writting, so thats 1500 hours next week, i know that one cos its after 14 and i know thats 2 oclock sorry i do sound like im going potty dont i thats twice in a thread now

lol Julie, do you know that midnight (00:00) did not exist in the RAF? Either it was 23:59 (1 min too) or 00:01 (1 min past)

i think thats true of the army too keith, i got vague recollection of OH tellin me sumut like that, but as it were 24 hr i let it go wizzing over my little girly head lol its interesting though , why is that that it wasnt 0000

No I don't have a problem with it having my OH in the RN and then working for the Admiralty then MOD (RAF) I have sort of absorbed it and tend to use it myself. ann Glos

thats good if youve done that im just rubbish i think its the numbers thing, makes me panic therefore i cant make head nor tail of it, they seem like too many numbers when you just need one, like 2 oclock - 1400 hours

3:15pm +12==15:15 6 pm..6+12==18 00 8pm.. 8+12==20 00 10pm..10+12=22 00 9pm..9+12= 21 00 and so on...

As an ex-Army person, I can confirm that midnight did not exist............as with other Services, it is either 23:59 or 00:01. Reg

I don't have that problem Julie, but I sometimes read it back to front......like 9.l5 instead of quarter to three etc... just before my Dad had his stroke, he actually read the clock, which said five past eleven at night, as twenty-five past seven....so he was reading it upside down......

Julie You should try it in German ! They say it backwards 15:00 Becomes Five and ten Ann :-)
