Last night I spoke to a colleague. She has a 2 year old and a 6 month old baby. Since having the baby she has had terrible back pain. Two days ago she had an MRI scan which showed secondary bone cancer in every vertebrae in her back, it is in her liver and they suspect the primary cancer is in her breast. Early in her last pregnancy she went to the GP with a breast lump and was told that it was a cyst. She has now been given 6 weeks to live - 12 if she is lucky. All that can be offered is management of her pain - apparently bone cancer is excrutiating. I would ask everyone who is consumed by petty squabbling to stop and think and try to put things into perspective. |

Just seen this Kris while trawling through the last few pages. How terribly sad, we just don't know what is around the corner do we? As you say it puts all pettiness into perspective. I will be thinking of her and her family and hope that her pain can be managed so that she doesn't suffer too much. Unfortunately pregancy accelerates cancer but she must feel bitter that it was not picked up before now. her poor little children. when we were short term fostering we had two little ones for a couple of weeks, one was 22 months and one 9 months, their Mummy died of cancer, it was heart breaking to see them and to see the distraught Father. They left us when he found a more permanent solution. I used to get so upset because the 22 month old used to call me Mummy, because he heard my 3 year old do so. his little voice haunts me t this day and that was in 1972. I will give her and her family much thought. Ann Glos |

So very sad. my heart goes out to her and her family. Bone cancer seems so hard to detect and seems to be very hard to discover. I knew someone who had it and it was detected in the very late stages. So so cruel. Wish they could come up with something in their research, xx |

Kris your words are so very sobering. No words can describe the sadness for this poor young woman and her family, If it makes women { me included } check their breasts more regularly then I'm so glad you put this up, I hope your words strike a chord on here to anyone who wants to cause trouble, Love to you, Caz xxxx |

Kris sounds similar to my friend when she was pregnant with her 2nd she found a lump in her breast and they thought it was a cyst but they did a test on it and turned out was cancer. She found out on 15th Jan (day after her 31st birthday) had her son early so she could have treatment. SHe then found out it had spread to her bones and liver. Saw her at the hospital on the 7th Nov as we were there to collect Fil things as he had just died, she looked fine and was asking how hubby was coping etc. She died on the 15th leaving two small sons Am thinking about them all and you are so right why squabble life is too precious and far too short |
